How to get rid of SyncroAd/Winsync

SyncroAd and Winsync "sync" up with each other, so whenever you close one in the Task Manager, the other one will open it back up. So here's how to get rid of this pesky ad-ware:

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd\
2. Rename both of the .exe files. I chose "assholes!" for one, and "fuckyou!" for the other.
3. Go back into the Task Manager and close them. They won't open back up because you've renamed the files.
4. Delete the said files.
5. Delete the folder and give Ad-Ware a "FUCK YOU!" for good measure.

The following was taken from the readme.txt that was in the folder:

Windows SyncroAd is free ad delivery software which provides targeted advertising offers.

How did Windows SyncroAd get installed on your computer?
----------------------------------------------------
You downloaded Windows SyncroAd from a Website that is able to offer its content for free because
it shows the Windows SyncroAd ActiveX popup. The Wind Update program is installed only once the user
has agreed on it by clicking on “yes”. Through the ActiveX, the user can review the license terms
and privacy policy before installing the software. Each and every distributor is carefully reviewed
to make sure that their distribution techniques abide by a strict code of conduct.

If you do not remember having seen an ActiveX prompt, you might have downloaded Windows SyncroAd from a
popular free software product (screensavers, games, file sharing software, etc.). Users always will
have to opt-in before installing the Windows SyncroAd software.

Removal instructions:
---------------------
Windows SyncroAd supports many free software products through its advertising relevancy technology.
If you remove Windows SyncroAd from your system, certain free software that you installed may no longer
function properly and you may have to reinstall them from a backup.

If you are sure that you want to remove Windows SyncroAd from your computer just follow these two easy steps:

1) Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

2) Scroll to Windows SyncroAd and click Remove

End User License Agreement:
---------------------------
Please find an up to date copy of Wind Update’s End User License Agreement at
Deleted site as to not promote these dick-heads.
Note: I NEVER trust their uninstall programs. I NEVER purposely run any program created by these dicks. I hope I've helped out.

As an alternative, you could always just boot to safe mode (f8 on startup) and then run ad-aware/spybot/whatever. Not letting many processes run usually gives whatever anti-spyware app you're using the chance to remove everything; while running under normal mode there is usually the problem of what you've described of having a process restore files to something you've tried getting rid of.

I once formatted my PC when I got some new hardware, did a fresh install, and BAM!!! Winsync was running!

I had literally only gone to three sites, Microsoft, ATI, and Creative.

I usually get rid of these types of files by playing winamp, changin its process to high, then ending the junkware's task and quickly deleting it before it can restart. Since winamp is eating up all the system resources after turnining its priority up the spyware takes much longer to start, giving you enough time to delete the source.
