flashing bios to use a cpu adapter?

hey all,

i'm helping a friend by putting together a computer that a friend of his gave him (in pieces).

the motherboard is relatively new but it's using a converter/adapter to change the socket so that the CPU that his friend gave him will fit on the board.

anyway. there's a floppy that came with the conversion kit which i assume is for flashing the bios.

can anyone tell me how to do that? or point me in a direction where i can find that out?

i'd check the manufacturer's site, but i don't have the pieces in front of me....

thanks.

I have no idea about using a converter/adapter for changing the socket for the CPU, but I have flashed a few BIOS in my experience. All you should have to do is stick that disk in when booting up, and it should automatically prompt to the A:, then all you have to do is type in the name of the BIOS flashing program, it should be an .exe of some sort.

it differentiates between manufactorers and brands of motherboards. Blitz's possibility is just that: A definite possibility.

I've also seen other methods: Turn the computer on, and the POST will prompt you to hit a certain key for "FLASH BIOS." Then you go from there.

I've also seen it where you can go INTO BIOS and then hit "FLASH BIOS" or something similar.

If the computer works, there's no need to flash the BIOS. I once did, and ended up with a dead board, which I had to RMA to Newegg.

thanks for the input, guys.

the computer is being built from scratch from parts laying around. i'll try just starting it up first. (there was no video card as of yesterday...) and then go from there.
