Syntax Highlighting Text Editor - Windows?

Does anyone know of a good (lightweight) text-editor for windows that does syntax hightlighting?

I'm looking for html, php, c, c++, java, etc...

Being a Linux user, I'm pretty used to a lot of apps doing this, and when I'm in windows, notepad, win32pad, and the others I try just don't live up to my expectations.

Thanks in advance.

I used to use TextPad
Which does a nice job of syntax highlighting. It has tons of syntaxes available too, you can download them right of their website.

The product hasn't been updated in a while though so they may not work on it anymore, but from my experience its pretty good as it is.

Another you might want to check out is UltraEdit

EDIT: a new version of textpad was released a couple of months ago, so apparently its still in development. I haven't used it in a while though, so I misjudged its active development.

UltraEdit.

not free, but we've decided it's good enough to pay for.

Exactly. One of the few programs I actually bought (when I was in Windows). It was worth every penny.

For me VIM took almost as long to learn how to use as a new language. But it was worth it.

You said lightweight, so is xemacs out of the question? It has a win32 version.

Otherwise a second vote for textpad.

UltraEdit RULES.

It was one of the only applications I missed when I abandoned MonpoSoft for Linux.

TextPad's always been good to me, nice file management for multiple files, quick, good formatting.

UltraEdit is an Incredible program. I showed my dad the trial version (a C++ guru, chairman of the American ANSI C++ board) and he immediately bought it for his own use

Chalk another one up to TextPad.

I use Homesite occasionally too, but its still slow compared to TextPad.
