new PDA
So I am thinking about getting a new PDA. I'll use it mostly for contact info and scheduling... I'd like to get at least bluetooth for syncing with my MAC. So a pocketpc isn't an option, because you need a third party program to make the sync run, and it doesn't work very well....
The smartphone thing won't work either, even though I wish it would. Verizon (my cell provider) doesn't work with the Treo or with the TungstenW, and I don't think I want to pay the termination fee to switch. Unless of course someone is going to tell me that one of those devices is so amazing that the fee would be worth it. I've pretty much narrowed it down to: a Palm T3 http://www.palmone.com/us/products/h.../images/03.jpg or a Palm Tungsten C http://www.palmone.com/us/products/h.../images/01.jpg The T3 has that cool sliding screen... But the C has 802.11B and the cool keyboard. Pretty much a draw to me. They cost the same right now since there is a $100 rebate on the C. Does anyone here have one of these and care to tell me what they think about it? |
I was like you...only needed one for basic scheduling, address book, notes.
I picked up the Tungsten E. I like it. |
I have the T3 - love it but would have liked wi-fi. I'll wait for the Sandisk card.
Cynthetiq has the C and loves it. If you really want wi-fi you should consider the T-Mobile HotSpot access. Otherwise you're just using it at home - kind of limited. HotSpot will cost you $20-$30/month. You could use the T3 and T-Mobiles GPRS service at $20/month. |
Hmm... What is GRPS? I'll look into the T-Mobile HotSpot access to see what I can discover.

I love my T|C, my mom has the T3 and she loves that. I didn't like the options of bluetooth since I don't have any blue tooth enabled devices but I do have wifi and there's lots of free wifi all over NYC

You might look at the sony pdas. They run on the palm os, and are pretty innovative.
I got an HP iPAQ 2210, and I like it, but that's not an option for ya. |
My brother has the C, it's very cool but a lot thicker than I what I would like. The 802.11B is tight though.

I've got the new Palm Zire 71 with a modem and a keyboard. I'm addicted. I also like the camera feature.

PalmOne announce the other day that they will be dropping mac syncing from the new Palm OS release (6.0 I think). Some are thinking this might be foreshadowning an Apple PDA. Otherwise you wouldn't think Palm would be alienating so many users over something so trivial to code as a sync.

Just bought a Tungsten E. It's my new constant companion. My sister has the Zire with the camera. She didn't even know about the infrared syncing feature. I gave my old Palm III to my Mom for her address needs.
