File Renamer
I've always found this program useful, especially for renaming scores of .jpg files...
http://www.mediachance.com/free/renamer.htm It's free and easy. Like my Mom (I kid, I kid). Almost foolproof aswell. I especially found the replace function usefull. Anyway, just thought I would share it. |
I've found that command prompt ren and use of wildcards suffices, however what you're suggesting is free, and is more powerful, so definitely would have some use in it, particuarly for more complex filenames. so I'm getting it, and thanks :)

Great, I've been thinking about writing such a program but now I don't have to.. thanx a bunch! :)

I've always used ACDSee's file renaming capabilities. It is not a free program, though.

I used a program for windows called Magic file renamer, that was really great, could extract id3 tags from mp3's and all kinds of neat things.
