Microsoft Network Sharing monitor?
Here's the question: At school I have some directories shared on the network so people can access my files, I would like to know what exactly people are copying and if at all possible who. However I can't tell what people are doing except to see that DUmeter is going off the charts for upload. Is there a program out there that tracks Microsofts Shared Network usage?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks! |

I have never used one, but it is possible that it's in your event viewer/system logs, or if you had a firewall program installed, it might track the outgoing file names.

If you are running NT, 2000, or XP, and have NTFS, you can turn on auditing for the files being accessed. Go into properties for the file/directory, go to Security, Advanced, and you should see the auditing tab.
Add the desired users or EVERYONE, and select the types of accesses to log. The security log in event viewer should now show what is going on. I don't know if XP Home has this ability. |
