IPOD Questions
So I'm about to get a new IPOD for my PC for 15% off through a friend. I'm not sure what size I want though. I figure the bigger the better, but I don't have anywhere close to 30gigs of mp3's on my computer. I figure I'll copy all of my favorite CD's, some hour+ long mp3's, and so on. I'm thinking 10-20 will be just fine.
Also, what's the best recent software for XP these days? I did some searches and didn't come up with any in particular, I just realized that there's gonna be a few that I need to decide between... Thanks guys -T |
I would allow for a few gigs of padding, depends how much music you get per year.

Pick up a 2nd generation 20 gig ipod and you'll be set.
|
When you get the iPod your collection will grow, I'm already holding out for a 40Gb+ version :)

I've got a 15 gig 3rd generation iPod, with about 7 gigs of MP3s/AACs. I use the other half as a boot disk (with a stripped down version of the OS on it), small backups of necessities, and to transport things around. Seems to work well. Oh, and my MP3 collection grew a lot when I got one.

You all are not kidding about increasing the size of an MP3 collection with an iPod. It just makes listening to your music so much more convenient, and roadtrips are awful nice with 1500 songs at your fingertips. The only thing is I can't seem to get an aux input into my factory in-dash CD changer with OnStar. The FM modulator always has interference. Any ideas? I've seen cables for the Tahoe and Yukon, but none for a Trailblazer.

What's the difference between the 10gig, 15, and 30gig models aside from memory? PM me if you know about this please...

with the models being sold now, the 10 gig does not get
Wired remote Carrying case w/ belt clip New iPod Dock That's it. Well, and price. |
Ive got a thirty and I love it. Using about 3 gigs of it, so I may have overreached a little.
|
just a little ;)

I've still got the original... So good. Amazing.
The only thing they could to do make them better (and make me want a new one) is if they increased the memory buffer... It has a small amount of RAM that it uses to store the upcoming songs... I think it is 16megs? or 32? Anyway, it means that there's about a 3 second pause if you're really skipping through the songs fast... I'm picky ;) |
I've heard it is a 32meg buffer which will provide from upwards of 30minutes.

Or just for the most recent versions? I mean, why not just make it 128 or whatever, iPod's already fetch a premium for being the best player out there. |
