Re-synching audio track on an avi file - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

So I went to a lot of work to get an avi file of an MST3K episode and the audio is offest by 2 seconds or so, which is obviously extremely distracting. What video editing program might I want to get that could help me re-synch the audio?

I think its called go to vcd gear.com and search for avi editors

or vcdhelp.com

If you had access to Sound Forgue or Premiere, there both great to get the sound matched up, you would have to do it manually but I find them eaiser then some of the other programs out there.

Don't know what those progs are, but can recommend VirtualDub - which is free and works well with AVIs.

When I try to use VirtualDub on the particular avi file, I get "Couldn't locate decompressor for format MP42 (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V2). VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."
Suggestions, cliche, my riddle buddy?

Try:

and get the codec/follow the instructions from there. Not tried it (I don't use MP4) but I think that's a proper VfW codec

I dont know if a simple Codec will work in your case. it sounds like that program is trying to expand the video causing you to need not just the codec but also the files needed to re-compress the file as well. Try and download some kind of DIVX Creation software or perhaps just go here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/
and download the WMP9 Codecs. I have never used that program so I cant say weather what I am suggesting is correct or not, just going by what I would try.

Have you tried either sound forgue or premiere? Or do you not know anyone with these programs. I use premiere for everything, and with the new WMP9 Compression tools, you can usually recompress the video to make it look the same as before but take less space.
