New computer

Hello,

So its time to find a new pc. Have not bought one in years. Mostly used for Autocad / light gaming. This is a home pc that I do work from at home sometimes. Also play Everquest on.

Right now I am looking at this:
Newegg.com - Recertified: ASUS Essentio CG1330-07 Desktop PC Phenom II X6 1045T(2.7GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity ATI Radeon HD 5450 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

It seems like the best fit to me. Also I have a 8800GTS to put in it so video card is not a issue.

What do you experts think of this choice? It doesn't take alot of pc to run everquest or Autocad but I want something that will last awhile and in pc's that don't happen much. Really don't want to spend more than $600.

Thanks Smackre,

For that price I'd go new instead of refurbished.
Go to ibuypower or the other one, poweruser or something.
I don't know if you're set on AMD but you can build a PC with the new Sandy Bridge processor for 600 bucks

I've always liked Intel better, if you want to stay with the recertified ASUS on Newegg's site, then look at the recertified: ASUS Essentio CM5675-07 Desktop PC Intel Core i5 650(3.20GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity Intel HD Graphics Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. it will save you $40-$50 and is not that different in specs.

I am looking at getting this now:

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

Adding a extra 4 gigs of ram and a copy of windows 7 home premium. Costing around 760 shipped.

I haven't really looked to heavy into your links (as I'm a lazy hobbit), but I had to ask. Why not build one yourself smack?

You can save some money and I know you know how to build one (being as you are one of the smarter buckholes I know), so why not go that route?

Newegg has some awesome deals for DIY kits, I look at them daily and wish I had the cash.

Tiger Direct has some good prices on DIY also, plus you can pick up directly instead of shipping...

I think newegg has better Diy kits than tigerdirect. I priced just about the same pc at both places. And Tigerdirect was about the same price but it came with a 3.0gbs hd when the newegg came with 6.0mbs hd.

Right now I am just trying to decide between the Phenom II X6 and the Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge.

It seems everything I read says the Intel will out perform the AMD mostly. Anyone else have a opinion on this?

The Sandy Bridge will be faster, cooler, and draw less power.
I'm not saying AMD doesn't make a good product, but anyone except a fanboy will tell you Intel is better.

PLUS, the midrange 2nd gen (ie, Sandy Bridge) will outperform the top end 1st gen chips.
Gen 1 has a 3 digit ID code, Sandy Bridge has a 4 digit code.
