What does this mean, DDR RAM??
"(Note: PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only)"
This is listed in the memory specifications for my motherboard. Does this mean, even though the motherboard can suppport up to 3 GB of memory, I can only have 1 GB when I use PC 3200?? I bought two 512 sticks of PC 2700 DDR so will I not be able to upgrade it ne further?? |

Sounds like you got it right. The chipset has limitation on dimm 3 when over 133 fsb. I wasnt aware of a 1 gig limitaition though. This may just be a board thing and not the chipset

It's quite a common problem with some "older" chipsets. They support DDR333 and/or DDR400, but do not really support it all the way.
It's basically a matter of motherboard manufacturers tweaking an older bios to work with newer hardware - the mobo can't officially support it, but thanks to some clever programmers, it can. sort of. |
