Sound System in my truck
Just got a new headunit, installs in two weeks. Wondering what speakers to get and if I should get an amp. Was thinking just 2 61/2in speakers instead of 4. New to driving trucks and the music seems to be too loud in the smaller space of a truck cab.

Man back in the day I had an awesome sound system. 2 10"s a bunch of mid bass, mid range, tweets, and 4 amps. It was great!
I'm a fan of always amped and I'd stick with the 4. Get a small sub if you can and put it under the seat. It will make a world of difference in the sound. |
I completely agree with Cynthetiq-
Power and speakers everywhere. Separate amps, unless they are super cheap, give you much better sound than a the built in amp of a Head-unit. More speakers disperse sound better, creating a better sound field when placed correctly. Multiple sizes of speakers more accurately reproduce specific frequencies through the different sizes. This all balances out to better sound at a lower volume (and higher volume). FYI If it sounds loud, it's probably distortion. A system without audible distortion won't sound loud, just clear. You won't know it's loud until you try to talk/listen over it. Or when you step out of the truck and the world is quiet. I'm not condoning high volume like that, just saying that clean does not sound loud, distortion does. 1" tweets in the A-pillar 3" or 4" in the dash, if you have locations for them 6" in the bottom of the door panels or in kick boxes under the dash 10" sub under or behind the seat couple of amps to drive it all Don't point anything directly at your head, don't turn the sub amp up so much it rattles the windows and you'll be very happy with the sound, low or high. .. |
