The Gimp works well enough for my needs.

I have PS 6 and 7 - no comments on the source for those; but the Gimp works for just about everything for me.
I was a using a pirated copy of Sound Forge 5 but I made sure I paid for a registered copy of SF 6 when I needed a copy that actually worked and had proper support (I use sound forge daily and PS/Gimp very rarely) |
Didn't pay. Won't pay. I also have very little legit software on my PC. $700 is too much for what I use it for.
|
I was shopping around for the latest PS version, 8 I think? I wanna use that "heal" filter, that's supposedly what everyone uses to make those mega-airbrushed pics we see everyday on the titty board. However, I read somewhere that it has some sort of copy protevtion that requires you to register over the internet before you can use it, so it'll rat you out if you copy it. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone know another place to get that airbrush effect?
|
i didn't but i know people who did so its ok lol
|
Im waiting for the day I can click the yes button on that poll. Ive been using it for years, but now that i finished college I will buy it after I find a job and upgrade my computer.
|
Not Photoshop, but Paint Shop Pro 7. Bought and paid for.
And well worth it :) |
No- but if they had an extraction tool that actualy WORKED i would gladly pay double that ammount.

Didn't pay, using it once per 2 weeks. Will pay when and if I start actually doing work (earning) with it.

Re: Did you pay for Photoshop?

I think that this poll refers to Adobe Photoshop retail version, nothing else. |

Yes, Adobe has silently implemeneted a "spy" feature in several new programs, including Photoshop 6 and 7, and Illustrator. Upon installation, new Adobe software will send your name, serial number, and IP address to Adobe. This can be circumvented, however. (juan, sorry for original post, it's cleaned up here) |

No, I didn't. In fact...I just installed it yesterday and have no idea in hell how to use it. Oh...and like sixate, I don't think I have a legit piece of software on this thing.
|
wait a minute....let me get this straight... you can actually PAY MONEY for software? News to me.

People work hard to write software, just like people work hard to build cars or write books, and I'm sure that the same people who steal software (and it is stealing) don't steal cars or books. Stealing is wrong, and if you're going to do it, you shouldn't be proud to say that you do ("I don't have a legit program on my PC <smiley>"). |
Heh, believe it or not, I bought this program for work at $80 for 7.0! I bought on this Russian website, but I am not sure what it is called. I thought it was going to be a pirated version when I saw it for $80. But it said that it was the full version, so I purchased it.
Received about 2 weeks later, and guess what....Perfectly Legit! Score +1! |
i downloaded adobe photoshop and image ready 7.0 off kazaa. oh i love the internet.
|
damn...i make disgusting amounts of money w/ photoshop....someday i should actually pay for it. o well.

This brings up an intersting subject...
Most "Industry Standard" software packages are so expensive there is not a lot of people who can afford to pay for them to learn how to use them. I believe that now a days, companies are beginning to realise that if they issue a free version of their software, it will cut down on piracy. Photoshop is still an exception though. The Commercial Version costs something like $600USD. wich is a fair ammount of cash. And besides that people (myslef included) like to be able to edit their photos. I almost always have Pshop open. Granted i finally bought it this summer, but ive had a cracked version for a long time. Programs like Avid, 3dsmax, Maya, Combustion, After Effects, and a whole lot of others are now coming out with "Learning Editions" so that the average joe citizen can learn animation or editing if they so choose. bit of a rant. ~Fox |
hah why pay, so easy to jus DL for free!
|
er...
of course I did, I pay for everything. :| (lies, pure lies) |
Don't get me wrong, the fine people at Adobe deserve the money, Photoshop is a great product, but I don't have the money to buy it and I never plan on using it for any logo's or other pictures I am selling.
In linux GIMP is similar, but free. |
|
I don't make money with Photoshop, not even in a remote way, so I don't think it's unethical to not pay for a $600 program that I only use maybe once a month for utterly useless things. If I ever start using it to do something I'm making money on, I'll go buy a retail version, until then I guess I'm a "pirate".
|
i get a license free from my office. however im leaving the comany in a month, and i dont get to keep the licesnse...
|
I use my pirated copy regularly. In fact, I can't remember any software I actually did pay for. As Buffet said...A Pirate Looks At 40.
|
Haven't paid for it *yet*, but with student edition prices being what they are I'm quickly running out of reasons not to.
|
MSPaint 0wnZ all of j00 ph0+0$h0pp0rZ
|
No. :o
I am not gonna spend $1000 CDN on a program I use a few times a week to just fuck around with. I don't care if it's immoral, it's convenient. |
All you binay pirates are going to hell.......but uh.....yeah I got it, didn't buy it..yet.
|
my office paid for it... dunno where to place my vote then...
well they did only buy one liscence for it... and it *somehow* ended up on my personal laptop... |
Wasn't sure how to vote on this, as a long time ago, I had a pirated version of Photoshop, but not in years. Now I use the Gimp, which yeah, isn't as good as Photoshop in many ways, but gets the job done.. Especially the latest development snapshots.
|
I didn't pay for it, but I never use it anyway. Does that make it ok? :)
