Need help removing Security Suite
High all,
I do much more lurking than posting, but I need a favor. My computer has been infected with Security Suite. I have tried my best to follow the instructions here: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-...-rundll32.html but a day or two later, it has resurfaced. Here is my Hijackthis log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 12:51:48, on 9/6/2010 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702) Boot mode: Safe mode with network support Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = MSN.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = Bing R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = Bing R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Page_URL = partnerpage.google.com/smallbiz.dell.com/en_us?hl=en&client=dell-usuk&channel=us-smb&ibd=0080430 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = Personalized Start Page R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:6092 O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Skype add-on (mastermind) - {22BF413B-C6D2-4d91-82A9-A0F997BA588C} - C:\Program Files\Skype\Toolbars\Internet Explorer\SkypeIEPlugin.dll O2 - BHO: Windows Live Sign-in Helper - {9030D464-4C02-4ABF-8ECC-5164760863C6} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live\WindowsLiveLogin.dll O2 - BHO: Browser Address Error Redirector - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - C:\Program Files\Dell\BAE\BAE.dll O2 - BHO: JQSIEStartDetectorImpl - {E7E6F031-17CE-4C07-BC86-EABFE594F69C} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\deploy\jqs\ie\jqs_plugin.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Apoint] C:\Program Files\DellTPad\Apoint.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /installquiet O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NVHotkey] rundll32.exe nvHotkey.dll,Start O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Broadcom Wireless Manager UI] C:\WINDOWS\system32\WLTRAY.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SigmatelSysTrayApp] stsystra.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KADxMain] C:\WINDOWS\system32\KADxMain.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ECenter] C:\Dell\E-Center\EULALauncher.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dscactivate] "C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\custom\dsca.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCMService] "C:\Program Files\Dell\MediaDirect\PCMService.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [V0400Mon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\V0400Mon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lxdqmon.exe] "C:\Program Files\Lexmark Z2400 Series\lxdqmon.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lxdqamon] "C:\Program Files\Lexmark Z2400 Series\lxdqamon.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AppleSyncNotifier] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleSyncNotifier.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [luuqvkss] C:\Documents and Settings\brian\Local Settings\Application Data\sjgxcygfb\wpfohaeuqiw.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wmyuxucj] C:\Documents and Settings\brian\Local Settings\Application Data\mwqxcatgp\wpvtgjluqiw.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msnmsgr] "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [luuqvkss] C:\Documents and Settings\brian\Local Settings\Application Data\sjgxcygfb\wpfohaeuqiw.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [wmyuxucj] C:\Documents and Settings\brian\Local Settings\Application Data\mwqxcatgp\wpvtgjluqiw.exe O4 - Global Startup: Dell Network Assistant.lnk = ? Thanks,
It seemed to work until i went to fmylife.com I think the virus is either originating from there... or (more likely) it is set-up to resurface each time I go there. It starts up as a blocked java plug-in, i decline to download the plug-in, but it starts up again anyways. |

I'd say its more likely that their ads are compromised and they don't care (or dont know) enough to deal with it.
I prefer givesmehope anyway.
