can you download youtubes for real?
I searched google for a youtube downloader, and tried 10 different ones, but none of them work. I use vista. I have cable, and a superfast computer. Does anybody know what is wrong? why doesn't it work?

There's plenty of options; sadly, I don't know any of them.
The one that I used to use (TubeHunter) no longer works. However, from what I hear, there's a majority of easy fix Firefox extentions that can help you out. Just search for "video downloader" within mozilla.org's section of extensions, and I'm sure you'll find that one (of hundreds) that will work best for your needs.

Ok, since we're on the subject...
Does anybody know the secret to downloading from youtube, then uploading again, without loosing quality? 90% of the time I'm losing quality and I'm not sure why. Why can't they just make this easy? LOL Last edited by The_Jazz; 05-24-2010 at 12:00 PM.. |

Keepvid is the one I use, and it works perfectly.

i use this vdownloader, works pretty solidly. it's a stand alone application so you don't have to worry about the extra extensions running in firefox.

I have downloaded and populated my MP3 player with many tunes from Youtube utilizing this site:
N°1 Free online YouTube video converter Of course, the quality is dependant on whoever posted the video to Youtube.

I have many questions about youtube now. I'm trying to build a serious legitimate channel. Aside from that. Will anybody tell me how to turn mp4's into DVD? Or any free video editors I should look into? Mostly, I'd love to turn collections of youtube videos into DVD's for my friends. That would be an awesome thing. I tried Keepvid and it didnt work for the file I wanted to download, but I tested it on another file and it worked ok
I think some of the "premium" content on Youtube is maybe blocked from dl. I wanted to download a documentary hosted by Channel 4 ---------- Post added at 07:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:58 PM ---------- Edit - Downloadhelper dont do nothing for me either _ This is the file Im trying to dl. If anyone has a spare two minutes let me know if it what you use works on it. Dont dl the whole thing, it'll take ages as its 100 mins long, I just am curious if there is software that will work on it, if the problem is what Im using or something else...

Cheers for looking.
Its definitely cos the video's are blocked from downloading I think. I found the same two video's on google video's and the downloadhelper seems to be jacking them as .flv files no problem at all

I still use real player. I have VLC player, GOM player, Windows Media Player, Quicktime and Real Player - between them all I think I can play most files.

I have no ide-buffering
(I apologize for that, but I'm still bitter...) I use Media Player Classic personally, although I don't have a favorite codec pack yet. Quote:

I once found a video on youtube of a Robert Plant bootleg called "When the last fair deal goes down". It was undeniably the greatest most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. Then, it disappeared one day. Now it haunts me that I may never hear it again. So now I download videos that I love, but I keep them unlisted, and post them at my personal homepage for my close friends to view. I'm tired of videos being pulled for violation then it ruins the work I put into showcasing other people's art. Honestly I don't feel the least bit guilty about plagiarism or copyright infringement. In my view I'm doing the original artist a huge favor. Still wondering about the DVD burning thing. Last edited by The_Jazz; 05-24-2010 at 11:54 AM.. |

Are you talking RealPlayer 9 / 10, or the newer RealPlayer SP? I really want the latter, but for some reason, I'm outside "country jurisdictions", and unable to download, (from the site) and even if I get it from elsewhere, still unable to install it.
RealPlayer's been my media player of choice for several (2-3) years now, not only because it's small, and easy interface, but because it serves the greater, and not lesser (video formats). I also find that DivX / XviD encodes are best served viewing with this. Sidenote: It also kind of took me by surprise that I saw that Google, too, realized the potential of Real, and now Google, in some fashion, endorses it as well, offering it as a featured download on their "eseential applications" page.
