remote settings question
I have a question about the remote settings on a computer. I am borderline computer literate, and should most likely not even be on a computer, lol. I mean as far as knowing anything about security.
The question is: In my remote settings , in the Systems Properties, I DO NOT have the box checked that says to allow remote assistance connections on this computer. However, today, I was at a web site for 24 hour Fitness, and a chat box came up, with a live person, asking to assist me. How was that able to happen when the remote assistance box is not checked? As I was writing that, it dawned on me, that it is most likely because I was on their web site, but I would still like some insight, with minimum laughter, lol. thank you

"Remote assistance connections" are for an outside person to take over your computer, to be able to mouse and keyboard and affect your system.
The fitness guy was just communicating with you via a web site.
