Starting a Blog
Anyone know any good sites to start a blog. Im looking for something easy to use, with putting pictures and small video clips. And maybe other customizable things for appearance. And what about a community or a way to get people to look at it. And maybe is there a blog site for science kinda stuff. Im basically trying to make a blog about stuff im working on related to my school work in Biology. Its not for school just stuff im doing at home. Like I bought a microscope with a usb camera and want to post things i find like microbes moving around.

blogger.com
I have two, one private for a group of students to communicate. The other one is not searchable, but there. :) I'm not an experienced technology person, but find this one easy to use and rarely locks up or has any major issues. |
I've had livejournal for about seven years now. A lot of things have changed, though, and unless you're willing to become a paid user (which really isn't too expensive), it isn't nearly as good as it used to be.
I've also heard good things about blogger and wordpress, but I don't have any personal experience with either of them. |
I use Wordpress as a standalone, but this is mainly because I want full control over the system. You need a domain and web hosting to do this.
I like Wordpress in that the system seems to make complete sense. I chose it based on reviews I read and comparisons to other systems. I have little trouble teaching people how to use it, even with zero blogging experience. It's only the setting up and alternations that can take a bit of technical know-how. That said, I'd suggest trying out the Wordpress web-based blog system, as it is the user-friendly version of a good thing. It's similar in setup to blogger.com and other web-based blogging systems. |
