harddrive info.

I really dont know anything about comp. but i have a conmp. that wont start up. It just makes a clicking noise. What could that be? Did the harddrive crash? I really hope not because my next question would be how can I get the info off my harddrive. I have a lot of important stuff on it.

... Hard drive failure is one of those pretty bad things ... I'd recommend buying a USB IDE adapter WITH power adapters for the drive. If you boot up the drive on someone else's computer and you hear clicking, then you have big problems.

You can risk trying to get the data off before it crashes and causes permanent damage... I would not recommend that. As far as I know it will cost money to get that data off safely (if at all).
