XP is more full featured while 2000 is more stright foward. For a home setting I would recoment xp Pro for office setting I would have to say 2000

xp is more for the eye candy and for the new (minor) features.

2k is (in my opinion) a lot more stable and faster (at least at opening microsoft word or photoshop) than xp.

i used to have 2k until xp and i never had any problems with games or BSOD with 2k. i think i had a few more problems with stablitly with xp but nothing major.

2k is faster IIRC, and treats you (slightly) less like an idiot!

Compared with 95.98 and ME the stability of both 2k and Xp is outstanding. If you use your comp as a workstation I think that 2k is more than adequate. If however you are in to multimedia and gaming as well then XP is the Os to go for. My soundblaster live sounds much better under XP. The added features included in XP are well worth the extra outlay.
