I have downloaded windows vista beta from microsoft and i burnt the iso image to a dvd with nero as a standard data cd and then put it in my pc and told it to boot from the dvd rom drive but it wouln't boot and just came up with a error saying that it couldnt boot as its an incorrect system disk. Is there anyway i could sort this? Thanks, Chris

So, wait, find out what the major bugs are, then upgrade. A beta of a web browser? Sure, I use the Bon Echo (Firefox) nightlies. But a beta of an operating system? No frickin' way.

you dont burn the file to the DVD, you need to create a dvd fromn the file, for my version of nero, i slect open from the menu and select the iso file, then it burns the disk as the image.
as for using a beta os, just install it to a second hard drive, that way, you wont effect the original OS.

If burning it doesn't work, you can also use emulation software (alcohol 120%, Daemon tools, etc...) to install Vista or at least, that's how I understand it. I installed from a DVD.

It's not that big a deal, but it was slightly irritating. I don't remember any of the Linux distros I've installed this past year doing that... When you're done playing with Vista (and you will be...soon), there are some hoops you'll have to jump through to get everything back to normal...assuming you're not going to just format everything and start from scratch. This was posted on planetAMD64 and assumes that you're trying to rollback your pc to a previous installation of XP. Quote:

I've been playing with Vista since its initial release and I'm not really all that impressed with it. It's pretty and I like a number of the changes Microsoft has implemented, but it's not enough to justify taking up such valuable real estate....valuable Ubuntu real estate....

But yes it can run emails, surf the web, and should play most games, but since it is a beta system, it may crash.

Agreed. It works but still stumbles and hurls much worse than XP. Hardware support will be rough for some time.
And they're way beyond beta. Wide release is at candidate 2, also known as: PSP.VB.CTFD.9. (Pre-Service-Pack, Vacation Booked, Call Them Features, Damnit! v0.9)
