NHL-UHL crossover

i just read today (although it was yesterdays paper) that a handful of NHl players are joining the minors for ice time. most notably, Chelios, Draper and darian Hatcher of the Red wings joining the motor city mechanics uhl team. some Blues have joined their UHLs city team the River otters. none have come to my hometown team the KC Outlaws.

While i think this is good for ticket sales of these small market teams, and will also bring some attention to a league other than the nhl, I'd hate to be a guy benched cause some millionair needed to stretch his legs. (thats a long sentence).

any thoughts?

It might be a good for the UHL, in terms of the added attention and attendance but like you already mentioned, its too bad they have to take spots away from guys who make an average of $500 a week. The UHL is the equivalent of single-A baseball.

Anyway, I don't think more than a few NHL'ers will join the UHL and I don't imagine the ones who do will stay for very long.

its the same with all the NHL'ers going over to europe..someone's job is being taken..and all of the jobs lost from television/advertising/etc......

Atleast in Europe the level of competition is a bit higher. Its crazy for established NHL'ers to be in the UHL.

The UHL really isn't that bad at all, I used to play for the Flint Generals, the league was alright, a lot of fights and fairly rough. It's a good cross section of players you have young guys trying to make a name for themselves, and older guys at the end of thier careers who hopefully can help the young guys get better.

The NHLers are going to make a lot of enemies in the minor leagues and Europe and rightfully so, I mean they're taking the job away from some kid who may not find another one while they are just putting in time till the lock out is over. But they have to do what they have to do to play hockey I guess.

Yup, I think NHL'ers should not play in any league while they are locked out. They are ina labour dispute, and I think that anyone who loses they're job to these guys, who will be back with the NHL in 0.001 seconds after the dispute is over, would maybe have a good legal case on the basis of lost wages and unfair competition.

The NHL labour dispute is affecting more and more people all the time, LEAST of all the players and owners.

These losers are becoming like a virus, and wish that the league with either just pack it in, fold, and go away like a herpes outbreak, or that both sides just realize how rediculous they're being, and decide on a way to play hockey again and move on. Either way, right now, I'm hoping that the dispute last long enough that the players and owners start hurting, though I doubt i twill last that long.

Too bad. Imagine less then a couple thousand men who can't figure out how to divide up $2 BILLION US!!!! Must be a combined IQ that rivals Tie Domi's per season goal scoring average. Pathetic!

Peace,

Pierre

its good for the UHL, but it's shitty of these millionaires taking away from these kids that are tryin to make it where these vets have been for years...

the NHLers have every right to earn money and hone their skills. not all the players are against the owners. they play hockey because they have a passion for it. could you go 8 months or longer without your passion in life?
