Eye color and attraction.

I've heard recently from separate sources about "tall, blue-eyed men" tending to have more success with the ladies. The 'tall' part makes sense, but I suspect the mention of blue eyes has more to do with the biases of the people I've heard this from. Do you find some eye colors more attractive than others? Does it factor into your decision to date/have sex with someone?

For the most part, I don't care about someone's eye color. More intense coloration is more striking, as is a light blue eye/black hair combination, but not more attractive. Eye color would not influence my intentions toward a woman.

Eye color has never been a factor in my attraction to someone. I usually don't notice the eye color until I am already involved.

I agree though, that blue eyes with dark hair is a nice combination. (My ex had that)

My SO did tell me he is attracted to girls with light eyes. (Blue or green) Mine are green so it works out.

My love my SO's hazel eyes. I didn't notice them being anything but brown at first, but now I notice the green within the brown and I think they are very nice.

I am an eye lover. I think the most attractive/unattractive thing about a woman is her eyes.

It doesn't really come down to color for me though. I find all colors attractive in their own way. I like the mysteriousness of brown eyes, the deepness of blue eyes, and the prettiness of green eyes.

The thing about eyes is they reveal your emotions at all times. Attractive eyes are the ones that reveal a sense of self confidence and vice versa.

Hmm...this is a tough one. I mean, you can have attractive eyes without the color being anything that stands out. I can say though, that striking blue eyes will attract me right off. Always have. But what really matters is what you see when you look deep into someones eyes :-) Thats what really gets me attracted to a guy.

Two of the people I've dated stand out to me because of their eyes. My high school boyfriend had gorgeous green eyes, and the guy I dated for a year and am seeing again now has striking light blue eyes. Both of them have lighter hair and are tall.

I notice eyes. Whether they're striking or just have a lot of color depth. If I don't notice a man's eyes much, it means I'm probably not taking him too seriously since I'm not staring into them or gazing at him occasionally.

I've only dated a couple guys with brown eyes, and I find that the darker the brown the more attractive to me.

I'm not normally conscious of eye color as much as what's going on behind them (know what I mean? the expression, I guess you would say), but my recent ex had these eyes that would switch from a tiger-y amber to a golden blue color. They were pretty fuckng amazing. I've never seen another pair of peepers like that before.

that's certainly interesting mm! Can't imagine that at all.

It's not the eye colour that does it for me, it's the expression in the eyes, and the way they look at me that ultimately does it. Different eye colours have different charms. Brown is warmer and deeper. Blue is striking but can be cold. Green is a combination of warm with striking. I'd say green is the most unusual so when someone has green eyes I always notice. I like to look at pretty things Eyes are fascinating.

I think people often get hung up on what they perceive as their preferences.

I always thought I had a thing for guys with blue eyes, until I met someone with brown eyes who really did it for me.

Now I've got a guy with blue eyes that change their shade depending on what he's wearing; they've also got some tiny splotches of brown. I love his eyes because they're like the ocean to me, in that the color changes with the light. They tend to have the same shades as the ocean too--they range from startlingly, impossibly blue to a washed-out silver. Beautiful.

I always thought I had a preference for dark eyes. My current SO has blue eyes though.

When it comes down to it little things like hair colour and eye colour don't make any difference to who a person is.

I cheat - because I'm practically blind without my glasses (sadly my optometrists opinion not mine) I have gray, blue and purple contacts - naturally my eyes are green so I change my eye colour whenever I want

I have always been taken with light shaded eyes, regardless of the color. Men or women, I'll notice if their eyes are a light brown verging on amber or a pale green. The color that I find absolutely stunning though is ice blue.

Mine are blue and I feel they are rather ordinary although for some reason as I've gotten older, they will really pop and look aqua blue if I wear that color (which I don't much because I don't like it with my coloring oddly).

I don't want to hammer this home to hard, especially to InBoil, a good poster through the ages, but eye color? There are so many intangibles that come into play. A woman (or man?) will like you for being InBoil.

Like WK said, a woman has eyes? It's a funny, but I couldn't tell you what color eyes my SO has.

Eyes have nothing to do with it. Most women like men who like themselves. That's the basic premise. I love my SO, and anything she does. Which (TMI)

On the subject, I don't think eye colour is that big a deal. Judging by my history, though, it would seem that I prefer brown eyes.

Magpie's eyes are brown, and quite lovely. But then, I think all of her is quite lovely. I suppose I'm biased.

...

It's all part of the package. We all like to focus on one or two attributes, but the entire assembly is a huge factor into attraction.

I can honestly say I don't give a damn about the color of a girl's eyes. I like the flesh around the eyes and how it moves in a particular way to reveal the person inside. I'm all about facial expressions and I find myself attracted to people with thoughtful faces. I liken articulate eyebrows and laugh lines to intelligence.

Whaddaya make of that?

Turns out there are more important things.

And without getting too off-topic, airbrushed!perfect is actually a turn-off for me, for the simple fact that I know it's not real. I am no more attracted to Angelina Jolie than I am to Betty Rubble, although apparently I'm in the minority on that.

I tend to prefer dark-eyed men.

I wonder if there is an evolutionary component. We tend to be attracted to people with whom we'd produce healthy offspring--people we're not related to, people who have immunities to different diseases than we do, etc. I'm not a scientist, so I'm having a hard time formulating my argument here, but I think there could be a scientific reason.

Years ago, while at a club with friends, an older woman asked me to dance, based on my eyes. She told me, I didn't ask. She was attractive, and, being a guy, it's nice to be asked to dance. She told me that I had "Killer eyes." I have blue eyes. They are nice, but not a big deal. To me, at least. I've been told many times, by many women that I have great eyes. Fine, I will use them. Thank Jebus that I have them. A man needs every angle that he can get. I love beautiful eyes on a woman, but that just isn't in my top ten.

I thought for a long while that I had a certain "type" of person I was attracted to (dark hair and eyes), but lately I'm finding myself attracted to a much wider variety of people than I used to. Hubby has light brown hair and very intense blue eyes - a far cry from my preconceived "type".

As for eye color specifically, I don't recall ever being turned off of someone just because of eye color - personality traits I don't care for are much less attractive to me than physical traits I may not care for.

Preference is for suckers I think. Supposedly the average individual makes a judgement on people they talk to or see within 15 seconds. So with that said, why have a preference? The ugly folk can be your perfect sexual partner. Or the worst sexual partner could be the best lover in terms of hobbies and thoughts there is available. Any eye color, race, etc is fine, just enjoy that person for how they make you feel, now how they look.

What about the ones that never get to the second or third date? Is that because you decided that you don't want to see them naked? And what happens when you see them naked, have you ever decided at that point that it was a no-go?

I love eyes that are filled with expression. I also enjoy contrast.

Blue or green eyes with dark skin on a tall man is a combination so delightful that I am too intimidated to speak with them.
Dark hair, pale skin, and blue eyes (dark Irish) are delightful, attractive, but too similar to my own coloring to actually date.
I enjoy eyes that are so dark that you can't make out their pupils.
Plain brown is dreamy. A fleck of color to that brown ruins the moment. I typically view hazel eyes as kind, but I don't recall being attracted to someone with hazel eyes.

I've fallen madly for dusty blonde hair and blue eyes on a well-built man. Several times.

Well, confined to this specific thread topic... superficial characteristics that we find attractive in potential partners (eye color):

I think it is foolish to define attraction as the initial inquisitive novelty stimulus we feel when first encountering the opposite sex. Just because a girl is pleasing proportions of meat doesn't mean I'm attracted. I think that's the line between jacking off to .JPGs in your clearly-labeled desktop "PORN" folder versus going out on dates where you, ya know, talk to another human being instead rapidly molest yourself seeking a mediocre physical release. Believe it or not, no shit, there is a profound difference and I'm aware of it. I have needs (don't we all?) and they're met in different ways. Physical attributes are applicable to the former, not the latter.

Real Life Attraction: Sure, I'm a manwhore... but I'm also a tough sell. Let me explain: I'll take my pants off for you in a dozen hours if you're physically attractive to me AND you talk a good game (IQ 100+, like George Romero flicks), but I don't play hide the sausage with club bunnies or pop culture icons ("hot" airheads). I need witty banter over physical attributes. I have my snooty physical preferences like everyone else, but they get trampled all the time because I'll find a girl who fulfills my overriding need for brains. I used to have a hardcore rule against dating blond girls, but look-at-just-went-out-the-window last weekend. I adapted to surprise brains and the physical feature I found unattractive for no good reason became another trivial statistic.

38DD Cranium: Honestly, I've never put my penis inside an idiot. Maybe a few girls who made poor life choices (haven't we all?), but no dummies. I've never used another person's body as a masturbation aid. There had to be a significant connection upstairs in the neural socket before the connection was made downstairs in the hot pocket of swirly-swirl-pumpity-pump-schlep-schlep-ooooguh-splat. For these purposes brains could be defined as intellect or emotional compatibility or musical preference... whatever it is that joins two people together in a significant way besides handcuffs or a broken condom.

Round Two: If I didn't make it to the second or third date... then there obviously wasn't enough attraction. It wasn't that I didn't want to see them naked, it was that they didn't give me enough wrinkly gray matter to make me want to see them naked or bounce my smooth spot against their thigh. I don't get to the point that I'm naked with somebody that I don't want to do the horizontal badger dance with in the near future. I wouldn't spend $65+ at Olive Garden and make out in the car with a girl that I didn't want to have sex with later. It wouldn't make it beyond dinner and a lame goodbye handshake. I don't see how people do that. Do they think it'll improve with time? I blame booze for these types of situations. I don't drink on first dates. It fucks up the attraction measuring faculties (hence "beer goggles").

All this rambling ties into the concept of eye color and attraction because I find it hard to believe that someone could possess a physical attribute that an intelligent adult found so attractive that they just went and ditched the rest of their "potential partner has" criteria. That kind of garbage smells like the plot a porno entitled "Redhead Pinky Toe Fixation" (men) or a stereotypical romance novel (women).

I think the more striking eye colors (gray, very bright green or blue) are intriguing and unique, but I don't think they affect my stance towards a female either way.

From a strictly superficial standpoint, eye color plays a very small role. I may prefer someone with lighter colored eyes over darker, but I think physical appearance is generally a total package that has to be absorbed in its entirety instead of turning into a game of Ms. Potato Head. And that thought process reminds of this month's Esquire, which features photographic horizontal slices of different male faces, lined up together to create a truly unique head shot.

I think green eyes on a lady are the prettiest possible eye color, however I won't kick a brown eyed lady out of the bed (or blue or grey eyed lady either). Eye color is about the only thing I can think of where I like another color better than blue (when blue is one of the realistic choices).
