Interesting article on George W Bush

I know this is old, but I actually rather enjoyed it.

I'll make no apologies, as it's patently "anti-bush", but I think it's worth reading nonetheless.

For the record, I stumbled across it as I was looking for a "Kerry-ism" to balance the humourous Bush quotation of the day I posted yesterday. I am anti-Bush, but like to work towards some degree of bi-partisanship! Would you believe I couldn't find any? Plenty of silly conservative Kerry-isms that simply attacked him on points of policy. But no utterances of complete nonesense that we have come to love and enjoy from Bush.

well I don't think anyone has ever accused him of being a good orator. As bad as some of his "bushisms" are I can't say I would do any better.

Yeah. As "anti-Bush" articles go, it was kinda fair.

As the president says, we misunderestimate him. He was not born stupid. He chose stupidity. Bush may look like a well-meaning dolt. On consideration, he's something far more dangerous: a dedicated fool.
I love it!

And that ....my friend, is the issue.

This is the man who represents us to the rest of the world. One would hope he could, at the very least, use the language in a way that garners respect amongst our peers, rather than disdain. I have ONE primary requirement, above all others, that I must have in my president.
He must be smarter than I am. This is not difficult to accomplish, and would likely prevent much of the turmoil of the past few years.

It would also temper the embarassment I feel for my Country.

Exactly. I think that i *could* do better -- but i still don't think i'm qualified to be president, so why should i think he is?
