EU constitution (and the referendum for the brits)
Since we seem to have a lot of attention towards the american side of politics at the moment, i thought i'd bring things home for those of us on this side of the pond.
now, for the unenlightened, the EU is accepting 10 new member states from east europe (poland, hungary e.t.c.) on may 1st. This will give them all the rights and privilages of a member state, including free travel inside EU boarders, rights to settle and a multitude of other things. The EU constitution was written back when there where only 6 member states, and hasn't been updated since to any major degree. The planned consitution will effectivly centralise power for all states in brussels and change things in ways that i can't particulary remember because i drank too much last night. The British government made a U-turn in policy monday gone by saying that it would in fact hold a referendum to decide if it would accept the constitution and abide by it (only to be told if we voted no, we'd have to take another one). The question is, what are your views on the constitution, and if your in Britain, which way do you plan to vote on the referendum being held to decide if britain will endorse it? |
As I am in the U.S. , I cant vote but wanted to get your poll started. Given a choice, I would have voted yes, as the E.U. (in my opinion) should set the example for the world that the U.S. has failed to do. That bieng worldwide cooperation, and global community.

I vote yes. Still an EU citizen, even though I live down under! Mr Mephisto |
i'm on the left side of the pond, so i'll not vote in the poll. ;)
but were i a british citizen, i would choose "no". |
