Where do you get your news from?
This is an informal pole. Where do you get the majority of your news and do you consider the validity of the news when you get it.
Me personally I visit a few websites daily for news and watch Foxnews occasionally on TV. The websites i visit are http://www.foxnews.com http://,<a href="http://english.alja...t/HomePage</a>, and http://islamonline.net/english/index.shtml I find that getting a mixture of American media and Arab media gives me a good prespective from both sides of the fence. I typically am a little skeptical of both sides of the media (usually the Arab side a bit more) but I realize the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. edit: fixed your url's --cheers |
NPRs All Things Considered
oh yeah, and the Jim Leher news hour on PBS |

NPR is National Public Radio. I get my daily news from the LA Times. I also read the NY Times and Washington Post every few days or when a big story hits. When I feel like I'm not getting everything I go to the BBC, the Australian Harold, and also try to find a good Candadian source. When I want to read what the left says about a particular topic i head over to alternet.org. Yesterday I read the Weekly Standard but there didn't seem to be much interesting to read. |
I'll take it anywhere that isn't disgustingly bias when I'm reading the news. I also watch entertaining commentators like O'Reilly or Hannity and Colmes for a subjective take.

When I want to read what the wacky left thinks I normally go to truthout.org, but alternet looks like a good place as well :p When I want basic news I'll check out drudge (lots of links, updated very fast), foxnews website (for the basic stories), and since I have a long commute the news radio station. When I want some biased right wing stuff I'll go to Newsmax. When I want to know how bad Israel sucks I'll go to arabnews.com. |
CNN, BBC, Guardian, Washington Post, ABC News, and I also go to Yahoo for their AP, AFP and Reuters.
That where I go for the majority of my news. |
NPR, CNN, milwaukee journal, local news. ESPN for the important stuff. I visit michael moores must read section.
The onion is always decent.... www.theonion.com Mr b |

Mostly on the internet now...
Excite washingtonpost.com nytimes.com drudgereport.com On TV... CNN, ABC and BBC World I've never really liked the others, especially Fox (it's too hyped) On Sunday, I watch all the news summary programs. Meet the Press, ABC, PBS, etc...for all the political angles, interviews & opinion. That's all I can take of talking heads. |
Only place I really go anymore is Fark.com, msnbc and google.
|
The Economist
The New York Times The Financial Times The SF Chronicle (sometimes) news.google.com BBC World CNN Fox News NPR antiwar.com www.mainichi.co.jp I don't do much real work at my job so I read lots of news to pass the time. |
Aah, I forgot some. I also do Fark. I'm a subscriber and get to a pretty wide range of stories through that place.
I like Crossfire for punditry, The Daily Show, and Countdown with Keith Olberman. |
The Onion.

Thanks Cheerios, didn't notice that :) |
Google News (news.google.com) gives a good mix of sources, but sometimes I'll check in cnn.com. I like to watch the local news on KSBW Salinas (I'm in Santa Cruz). Now that I'm at my parents' house for the holidays I watch cable news like cnn, foxnews, and the daily show. I'll listen to NPR if I'm ever driving but I don't own a car yet so that doesn't happen often.
|
BBC & Pravda normally
|
I listen to a lot of NPR, watch NBC, CNN & MSNBC. Read my local paper (Arizona Republic) and a number of web sites including the Onion, Drudge and Fark. I love Meet the Press and Hardball and try to catch The News Hour whenever possible.
|
Hey mml. . .do you ever read phxsuns.net? Are you a Suns fan?
My sources: The Economist NY Times Wall Street Journal CNN Christain Science Monitor |
MSNBC and CNN
|
I take in news from as many sources as possible. The positive effect of bias is that it works both ways, and by knowing which way varous sources are slanted, I can see what opposite sides report identically, and throw out the crap that they throw in. For a similar balance, I watch US and foreign news sources so that I can get a balance between those who are kissing America's ass and those who want to kick it.
By trying to filter out any bias other than what we agree with, we close ourselves off to alternate views that we may not agree with, but may be right about some things. |
I usually watch CBC, and BBC. can't stand CNN i don't want t ohear about Keiko for 2 hours. al-jazeera on occassion. hard to find news that is relavant without the propaganda. Never seen Foxnews never want to.
|
I read Fark.com, and spinsanity.org. On TV I usally watch News World International, and if I'm home I'll watch News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS or one of the news shows like ABC world news tonight.
|
shit almost forgot about the daily show and liquid generation
|
I hate CNN. I watch it occasionally, but I've found that some of their facts are less than correct.
|
If geraldo rivera joined CNN that would be a merger of the two worst newspeople in history.lol
