Nobody here cares that Teddy Kennedy is dead?
It's a fitting legacy to him that one of his last earthly acts was trying to be two-faced once again.
Capitol Briefing - Momentum Builds for Temporary Kennedy Replacement A brief summary: When Mitt Romney was governor, Teddy was afraid John Kerry might be elected president, and Mitt could appoint his successor. Teddy and his Democrat friends maneuvered so that a special election within 145-160 days would determine the successor. Once Teddy realized that Democrats would be short one senate vote should he die, he (last week) wrote a letter suggesting that the state reverse the earlier legislation, in order to allow the (now Democratic) governor to appoint a successor immediately. Good old Teddy--a piece of shit to the very end. Or is this perfectly acceptable?

as far as no one caring:
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/general...nedy-dies.html How is that not acceptable? If you have the votes to change something in the legislature, you can do it. How would this be any less acceptable, democratic or within the rules than if Romney had appointed a republican who would have never had in an election for Kerry's seat? It is a political game and the democrats hold the cards in MA. By the way, the rule would not be reversed, so that is unsubstantiated spin (about a dead man, no less). In the very same link you posted it is clear that the special election will still take place as determined by the law. The only thing that it changes is that the gov. would be able to appoint a temporary senator (who the current gov. even says should not run in the special election). How can anyone be against that?
