Fall Colors

Went out this weekend to see the leaves change. Colorado doesn't have the reds of New England and the northwoods, but our yellows are pretty spectacular. How are the leaves doing in your neck of the woods?

I love the last picture. An absolutely perfect picture of fall.

Gorgeous, I love the way the verticals of the trees clash wiht the horizontal striations in the mouintains in the first one.

Leaves are still green here in NJ (yes, I'm out of Miami for at least 4 years of college life)

Went out for another try this weekend. These are near my home.

Longs Peak, I need to revisit this one in a couple of days hoping for better color, though calm days are hard to come by here.

1/4 mile from my home.

I live in Bar-K subdivision, about mid way between Jamestown and Peak to Peak Hwy, just past Overland Pass.

near Grant, CO

Here are a few pictures from our cabin just west of Grant, Colorado. These were taken about two weeks ago.

A lot of the aspens have lost their leaves/color but there are still plenty to see. I rode up near Nederland on 72 and then went south on the peak to peak highway for a while a few days ago and it was still quite beautiful.

Those are truly breathe taking photographs. Living in South Florida does have some drawbacks for sure. How long do the leaves last before they are off the trees?

That we do.

I haven't shot much for colors this year because I still hadn't replaced a lens I dropped a few months ago. Finding the lens I want in stock been a huge pain. Bit of a challenge to try to shoot and stitch landscapes with an 80-200mm. As such, these aren't the greatest, but its what I got shooting at 80mm+.

Suprisingly got a few decent panos... but you guys would kill me if I uploaded them. They are kinda huge, even resized.

Love that last one, Stan. What a beautiful scene!

skibum, Those are nice & very fall-ish. Beautiful place! What lens did you drop that you're missing so much? Just curious... I'm like all kinds of new to dSLR & lenses etc, so yeah, quite interested nowadays in what people prefer to shoot with.

I got lucky when I got my D70 and got a decent sample of the 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G. Its a cheap lens, most copies are pretty crappy (the other more common kit lenses are much better like the 18-55), but my copy of it was pretty good. Lacked a little on the wide end for many, but shooting in the mountains you don't usually need super wide. Occasionally wanted wider, but I had no need to replace it really. Back in late July I dropped it on a rock and watched it roll into a river. lol. Still works, and shots look good in small sizes, but full res you can see its not right.

So I decided to step up to something better optically. I just ordered a Sigma 10-20mm, which gets good reviews. I wanted the Tokina 12-24mm because I hear great things about it, but everywhere is backordered, and I didn't want to spend 1000 dollars for the Nikkor 12-24. lol. And then for the mid range I will probably get a 50mm 1.8 prime, as its a cheap and amazing lens.

Great shots! It really makes me miss autumn in Michigan. Northern Michigan has some of the most beautiful fall foliage there is to be seen. Sadly, central Arizona does not, lol. Thanks for the taste of autumn!

I miss the Georgia falls beyond belief, in TX the trees don't really have colors, they just die and fall off immediately, it's depressing. These pictures are so beautiful, I love fall, can't wait to see it in the east again.

Leaves are a-changin' here in central PA... they started late last year, and early this year. I just want them to hang on for 2 more weeks, for our wedding!

Not exactly true, Ghoastgirl. Although not to be compared with the northeast, we do get some nice fall colors in Texas...
Oh, and I'm not a photographer, as will soon be obvious...
