Here's another one. It rarely works when shooting directly into the sun, while it is completely out, but I always try, anyway.

I drove down to Sanibel Island, today. It's not quite 30 minutes from where I live. Figured I'd take a couple of photos. Ended up taking 138 photos, instead. God, I love living on the southwest coast of Florida.

Not sunrises, but close enough!

Tillamook Head in Seaside

Sunset, same day.. clouds finally went away

Another sunset, hard to keep teh horizon straight when standing in dunes, but I think I did fairly well haha

More sunset, more un-even horizon due to dunes

I might have missed you saying, but what camera do you use?

Anyway, here is my only good sunrise picture:

The only reason I was up to see that was because I was meant to be going to school. But it was snowed off.

Here's a "pre-sunrise" photo. Most times, IMHO, this time of dawn is actually better than when the sun starts to rise..

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5700. I really don't do anything special with the camera. I nearly always have it set on automatic and the focus sent on infinity. The trick with low light is using a tripod and a remote shutter to minimize any vibration from pressing the shutter or any motion from taking a photo at such a slow shutter speed, that it is next to impossible to hold the camera perfectly still, hence the tripod.

My cousin came into town for the holidaze, so we ran down to the beach, tonite. A so-so sunset, but I'll take what we get. It was almost 80, today... 2 days before Christmas.. Love it.

Hey, I'm not that "good", really. I'm just lucky enough to live in an area that it is hard to screw up a sunrise / sunset photo. Nearly every one I see is perfect, except for tonite's, of course. Not a cloud in the sky and if I've seen one flaming ball of orange going into the Gulf of Mexico, I've seen ten thousand of 'em.

BTW, liked your second photo, tilted horizon and all.

Be careful while on your roof. We wouldn't want you falling off and hurting your camera.
