Kaiserpfalz in Düsseldorf, Germany
Hi,
I vistetd the ruins of a Kaiserpfalz (Imperial Palace, literally "king's palace") in Düsseldorf. Sadly it was more in Ruins than I thought, there was only few walls left. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/6809/pfalz1.jpg http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/9101/pfalz2.jpg http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8361/pfalz3.jpg But from the Palace I had a good view over the river Rhine. http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7692/rhein.jpg There was also some strange modern Art http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1081/dingr.jpg And one of the old Lintel, It says "In the Year 1184, of the incarnation of out Lord Jesus Christus, Emperor Frederic added this ornament to his empire, with the intention to reinforce juistice and preserve freedom everywhere" http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8684/stein.jpg Close to the Palace was a small Memorial for the victims of the World Wars (my translation, the original is more like a poem which is hard to translate) Like Heroes you devoted your lives to the fatherland. Always thinking about you the fatherland thanks you. The City of Kaiserswerth to her fallen Sons who have died in World War 1914-1918 And the victims of World War 1939- 1945 http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/8963/denkmal.jpg |
...and this is the way the palace used to look?
