Anyone gotten any GeoTrax trains for their kids?
I bought my nephew the starter GeoTrax set last July or August (Tracktown Railway) when he was about 18 months. I knew he was a bit young for it at the time, but I figured he'd like it and eventually learn how to use it. My sister had wanted to get him a Thomas the Train wooden set (just because, I'm convinced, every other young mother she pals around with had gotten it for their kids). That one is SO expensive and is not powered at all. The GeoTrax trains are remote controlled and easy enough for my nephew to run at 2 years old. Should have some lasting interest too since I'm addicted to changing around the track layouts for him to keep it interesting. We've bought more and more pieces and added on stuff and really think it's a fun, durable toy. Just curious if anyone else has gotten addicted to it.
If you don't know anything about it and are curious, check out Fisher Price's GeoTrax website. Has little Flash demos and all types of stuff: http://www.fisher-price.com/us/geotr...ault_flash.asp There's even a fan site with a lot of track layouts that parents have submitted: http://geotraxfan.com/ A Yahoo group also exists: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GeoTrax/

Yes.. we..ummm I mean our 3 year old has the Geo Trax bug. He loves them. He will sit and play for hours. They have so many different trains, attatchments, configurations.
We are always on the look out for new sets. Sometimes the stores around here do not keep up with the new releases. We generally have to order the newer stuff from the web. Cool web sites... Thanks for the info...

My son (and daughters) are die-hard Thomas fans. If you buy the Thomas brand, then yes, you'll pay top dollar, but there are a ton of knock-off brands that are downright cheap. We got a train table, tracks, mountian, and some generic trains for $60 at Costco. The only "Thomas" merchandise we purchase are the the actual trains...

No kids here, but those look like an enormous amount of fun. Of course, this is coming from a grown woman who loves playing with K*Nex, and has an entire K*Nex amusement park in her classroom (it's curriculum related, really it is).

My oldest son has a Geo Trax set. Right now it's put up since we just moved but it probably won't get brought out for awhile. When it was set up, he didn't play with it much. I think it's because he got frustrated because he couldn't get the train on the track correctly so then he would take it apart. I'd put it back together for him, put the train on the track, he would derail the train. Repeat process. Maybe when he's a little older, or maybe my youngest son will play with it when he gets a little older. My youngest seems to be a little more analytical and patient than my oldest.
