Best Billy Joel Song?
My personal favorite would probably have to be Scenes From An Italian Restaurant or even Captain Jack. What are some or yours? Just wondering. (Putting together a best of cd for the car) Thanks for any input

Angry Young Man
Just try and sing along without hyperventilating. Plus, I love the bridge: I believe I've passed the age Of consciousnous and rightious rage I've found that just surviving is a noble fight I once believed in causes too I had my pointless point of view And life went on no matter who was wrong or right

The Stranger
Well we all have a face That we hide away forever And we take them out and Show ourselves When everyone has gone Some are satin some are steel Some are silk and some are leather They're the faces of the stranger But we love to try them on Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then You've done it, why can't Someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself Once I used to believe I was such a great romancer Then I came home to a woman That I could not recognize When I pressed her for a reason She refused to even answer It was then I felt the stranger Kick me right between the eyes Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then You've done it why can't Someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself You may never understand How the stranger is inspired But he isn't always evil And he isn't always wrong Though you drown in good intentions You will never quench the fire You'll give in to your desire When the stranger comes along. |

Good God...so many!
If I had to pick just one to be my favorite, I'd have to say Goodnight Saigon. One of his most emotionally intense, and I don't know of any other Billy Joel song that can make me get lost the way that one does. Other particular favorites of mine are Pressure, Stranger, And So It Goes, and We Didn't Start the Fire. There are a few others that I really like a lot as well but I can't think of them off the top of my head at the moment.

first place is a tie between You May Be Right and Only the Good Die Young
...but there's a big tie at second place... Goodnight Saigon Scenes from an Italian Restaurant Captain Jack Moving Out Angry Young Man The Stranger I love Pressure a lot, but it's a second-tier for me. I realize half of what made it so cool was the video, which was one of the first GREAT videos I ever saw on MTV. Baby Grand gets a very honorable mention as well... There's a song on one of his late-80's albums that i really loved... sounded like he was going out of his way to write a Paul McCartney song... but I can't recall the name at the moment.
