Ted Leo and the Pharmacists/Saturday Looks Good To Me/Showdown at the Equator
Stew Stew (again) The Shins/The Glands/Rogue Wave Finger Eleven/Two shitty openers Curiosa (The Cure/Muse/Interpol/The Rapture/Mogwai/ect) Ted Leo and the Pharmacists/Tosser Muse/The Zutons Brian Vander Ark Another very good year for concerts. The Shins came with the best openers, but my favorite headliners were Ted Leo (the first time around) and Brian Vander Ark. Stew was also excellent, and that took place under a tent with maybe 40 people.

Here's what I can remember....
Phish (NYC, Vt) moe. (NYC, Caribbean cruise) ulu Medeski, Martin, and Wood Wow, I think that is it. What a light year for me! I usually see 10-20 shows a year. To be fair to myself, factor in that I took a week long cruise with the band moe. and saw seven shows while on the trip. That was a hoot! Parting on the pool deck of a cruise ship listening to your favorite band after spending the day in Jamaica is an automatic good time. Also, the Phish shows included a two-day farewell festival (mudfest) in Vermont. So far this year all I have seen is Chocolate Genius, Inc, a real NYC treat, at Synspace two weeks ago, but all my time and $$$ seems to be going toward our new addition born in October. I am looking forward to a small show with Cathy Richardson at The Cutting Room here in NYC on 1/28. This woman can sing. If you like chicks who rock hard and can make the show, I highly recommend it. I also just picked up tickets to a Tsunami benefit hosted by moe. at Roseland Ballroom on Feb 10., 2004. It is rumored to include Trey Anastasio from Phish will be there along with others from the jamband music scene (John Medeski for sure). Speaking of Trey, he and Chocolate Genius (Marc Anthony Chapman) will be performing at the Tibet House benefit at Carnegie Hall on 2/9. Looks like that will be a happening music weekend here in NYC. Look out for some crazy after shows around the City! If anyone out there likes to experience this side of the NYC music scene, drop me a PM anytime to chat about upcoming shows. I like modern jazz (MMW), jambands (moe.), singer-songwriters (J.J. Cale, Chocolate Genius) and rockin' blues bands.

Covenant Bjork Wolfsheim Lullacry/Nightwish I didn't seen half as many concerts as I had hoped. The promotion company that services most of the stuff I like seemingly shut down for most of the year.
