Forgotten Album - Any Help?
I vaguely remember an LP cover from back in the day.
Here's what I've go: - Classic rock band - Mostly white - Had swans and tigers (or possibly lions) - Animals set in front of a sunset I know it's somewhat limited, but can anyone help me out? Last edited by sobedrummer; 01-03-2005 at 12:15 AM.. |

I dont know, but next time try "master 'what song is this?' list" up at the top of tilted music. I know its not a song, but it is a "what is this?" type question.

That sounds exactly like the cover of Queen's A Night At The Opera:
is that the one you're looking for?

Yeah I'm with you that far, I was looking for a much deeper understanding as to the references to Gallileo for example. Also what the hell is a "bismallah?"

It's all in another language. And I don't know what these words mean. I think Bismallah means "We will not let you go" and I think they're just repeating that phrase in another language. Queen is not "mostly white" though haha.

K-wise, it took me a while but I finally found it.
Bismallah means: In the name of Allah (roughly) It is the first word (phrase) in the Koran.

Guys,
if you've ever got questions about Queen then come to me. Spending many years as a Queen fanatic I've become quite the encoclypedia Anyway! the use of Bismallah and Galileo have no reference to religion what so ever. As they were recording Bo Rhap the song's operatic section was originally intended only to be a brief interlude. But Freddie kept adding more and more and one day he walked in and said, "We'll just stick some 'Galileos' in here!". He simply wanted to fill out the blancks so to speak with Galileos because he thought it sounded good

Me knows this. So I check out songmeanings.net and this guy says he heard a version of <i>Who Wants To Live Forever?</i> except with Brain May doing all the vocals and he said he sung it even better than Freddie. I must hear this version to believe it Heard Seal did a moving rendition at a benefit concert shortly after Freddie passed as well.
edit: Ya know people over there at Songmeanings also declared that I'm In Love With My Car had homosexual overtones(Or is it undertones? Whatever the word is)? Asta!!

Brain has a really nice soft voice which is perfect for Who Wants To Live Forever. However Freddie sings it better. Period. Quote:

People think because Freddy was gay then the whole band was gay. I hear it all the time. And since ya know the whole band is gay then of course every song they wrote together has to have some suttle gay metaphors in them. Carborator must be code name for male genitals..thats what it is I know it! I mean I could see people thinking that about <i>Death On Two Legs (Dedicated to..)</i> but even that one isn't about being gay haha.
Well g'night Asta!!

Bismillah Arabic: bi-smi llahi r-rahmâni r-rahîm Opening phrase of all suras in the Koran, meaning 'In the name of God; the Merciful; the Compassionate', except for sura 9 (the reason for this omission is that the beginning of this sura makes the bismillah superfluous). The function of the bismillah is to state that the sura is issued in the name of God, and is not made by man. Learned Muslims will in most cases say that it is Muhammad who added the bismillah to the revealed texts with this purpose in mind. As Allah, Rahman, and Rahim all theoretically can be name of gods, there were some few local speculations in early Islam whether the bismillah was referring to one or three gods. Some Meccans in the first years of Islam did see in this a polytheism. This died out, and later on there have been very few attempts to interpret the bismillah into a trinity equal to the one of Christianity. The short form bismillah is used as a part of daily language, normally as a way of underlining sincerity and honesty. Beelzebub SYLLABICATION: Be·el·ze·bub PRONUNCIATION: b-lz-bb NOUN: 1. The Devil; Satan. 2. One of the fallen angels in Milton's Paradise Lost. Beelzebub was next to Satan in power. 3. An evil spirit; a demon. ETYMOLOGY: Hebrew ba‘al zbûb, lord (of the) fly, alteration of ba‘al zbûl, lord prince. See bcl in Appendix II. Scaramouche A Romance of the French Revolution |

From the OED:
One meaning has it that scaramouch is an obsolete form of the word skirmish. The other meanings are: 1. (As proper name, with capital S.) A stock character in Italian farce, a cowardly and foolish boaster of his own prowess, who is constantly being cudgelled by Harlequin 2. <i>transf. and fig. </i>In later use often employed loosely as a term of contempt: A rascal, scamp. Interesting considering what the song is about. To confirm flyman's definitions: also from the OED; Bismillah means "in the name of Allah"; a common Muslim exclamation. Also, it may be that Freddie Mercury was using a little poetic license when he used Galileo.
The word Galilean: B. n. A native or an inhabitant of Galilee; used by pagans as a contemptuous designation for Christ, and hence as a synonym for ‘Christian’. Also, a member of a fanatical sect which arose in Galilee in the 1st century. and the word figaro means "a barber." Not just the name of an opera. A magnifico means a great or noble person (it can also mean simply the word magnificent). Quote:

Ok so the song has some nonsense lines in it according to Nancy, and as we have learned "bismallah" is from tthe Koran.
Ok great, what else have we learned? Well the one phrase that does make sense: Quote:

I am also a gigantic Queen fan and I can tell you that the true meaning of Bohemian Rhapsody has never been deduced. Freddie never really spoke about it and the rest of the guys...well, I think they just went along with him.
Roy Thomas Baker (their producer at the time) tells a great story about how Freddie came in, played the opening piano part, shut the piano and said, "now dears, this is where the opera section comes in!" and everybody was just speechless. They recorded so many other overdubs on Bo Rhap that at one point, you could literally see through the tape they were recording on. Anybody wanna talk more about Queen? Like I said...huge fan.

With A Day At The Races, I felt like they continued in the grandiose tradition of A Night At The Opera, without trying to match it. There are a number of really underrated songs on there, the best one being Brian May's "Long Away." With Innuendo...Freddie's voice just soars to new heights, which is unbelievable considering how sick he was at the time. "The Show Must Go On" is truly what I consider to be the truly last Queen song (although I know some consider it to be "Mother Love," as I believe that was the last song he recorded). It's a truly fitting end to his legacy. I know that they recorded "Was It All Worth It" and made it the last track on The Miracle purposely because they felt it might be Freddie's swan song, but "The Show Must Go On" works much better.
