A Tribute to Rush

RUSH!

I'm so in a Rush revival right now. I've been jamming out on Tom Sawyer alot lately which is one of my favorite songs on drumset. My Rush favorites are Tom Sawyer, The Necromancer, as well as Xanadu. Neil Peart is an amazing drummer, word up for him.

So, lets hear it for rush! Favorite songs, any thoughts about the band members?

I got into them when Roll the Bones came out. Every song on that album is great. The instrumental, Where's My Thing?, Pt. 4: Gangster Of Boats Trilogy is awesome.

I haven't heard all the Rush albums...so far Tears is my favorite song from them..I'd say 2112 is but that one is more like 6 songs. Pert is awesome but the whole band is fantastic. Lifeson is one of the most versatile guitarists you'll hear right up there with Steve Howe and Geddy Lee's singing is a treat as well...he has wonderful tone and hearing him scream on things like say the Soliloquy portion of 2112? Shit it doesn't get much better than that

Just think of what my life might be! In a world like I have seen!! I don't think I could carry on..carry on this cold and empty life...OOOOOOOOH NOOOOO!!!!! (followed by one of the most kick ass guitar solo's I've yet to hear)

Rush are one of the G.O.A.T.'s

Asta!!

And I was just fixin' to listen to Presto. my favorite Rush discs are Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures and 2112, but Presto is all I have with me today, so it'll have to do.

Just the other day I was lamenting how I've never seen them in concert. Missed the tour through the NW last year because my g/f doesn't like them. Damn. Stupid, stupid.

Yep, Tom Sawyer, Limelight, all of 2112.

I can't help but idolize Peart.

They more than make up for Bryan Adams.

2112 and Moving Pictures are my faves, but I also like "Grace Under Pressure" and "Power Windows".

They were kind of panned at the time and some people still do. Neil began using the electric drums during that stage and took a lot of flack for it. To me they were incorporated very well into the the songs. It gave them more of an "electronic" feel.

"Mystic Rhythms", "Red Sector A" and "Big Money" came out of that era.

I never got to see them in concert either, one of my regrets.

2112 is my fav. But Exit Stage left is awesome. I love live music, that's why I favor this album. My favorite song is Red Barchetta, love the way the song starts out slow, builds, and builds, then there's a climax. I've seen them a couple times in concert, and it's a great experience.

I had sort of lost interest in Rush around the time Counterparts came out. They were really starting to show their age. I'd still throw on Farewell to Kings and most of the older stuff, but most of their work past 1984 didn't really interest me. Then I picked up Feedback and heard an entirely new side of them, now I'm looking forward to hearing something new from the boys.

I've always thought the A Farewell To Kings was a very underrated album that has some of their best writing, and some of the best performances as well.

Of course, the over-the-top and overtly obtuse 2112 is still a classic.

I also like the song Battlescar that, although is a Max Webster song, features Lee and Peart both playing and Lee singing lead and backup, and I think that the composition is Mitchell/Lee if I'm not mistaken, which I am often, so don't hurt me.

Peace,

Pierre
