The Libertines

I just bought their new self-titled cd, and it is one sweet album. They've been mentioned here a few times, I'm surprised not more. If you've never heard them, try to find the song "The Man Who Would Be King." It is my #1 song of the moment. Anyone else here enjoy rockin' out to The Libertines?

I don't find them to be that good actually.

I mean they might have a couple of good songs but i can't shake the feeling that part of their sucess is down to a lot of arse-licking by NME.

Plus the fact Pete Doherty is just a smackhead who's lucky he isn't in jail and has ignored attempts to get himself clean, just fills me with contempt for the band.

I really like "What a Waster" and "Up the Bracket". Don't know enough of them to render any worthwhile opinion, though.

It's rock n roll, baby. Seriously though, I was clueless to the drama of the band when I started listening to it, so the stains of thier personal lives had no chance of seeping into the actual songs.

Honestly, the first time I listened to the album, I thought it was not quite good. However, after it was over, I found myself playing it again... and then again... until the songs grew on me in such a way that I now enjoy the album quite a bit.

i preferred the first album, "up the bracket", better than the self titled one...IMO

It's all bloody good shit been to a few gigs, this was before they were big time. Crazy shit never seen so much mayhem but every gig was true raw rock n roll.

Be interesting to see if they stay together.
