Love Silverchair and Queens of the stone age!
To show you how diverse my musical taste is though..... here's an Aussie band I love too! They were awesome, I hear they're still touring ( without any original members).......
The Little River Band!

As for actual Australian bands, I like Grinspoon and Powderfinger, Silverchair aren't bad either.

Powderfinger i think had a single out here in the US but i cant remember its name. QOTSA and The Vines are huge out here. especially for the Vines last year when The Hives, The White Stripes and The Strokes all had huge albums, that's died down.
Silverchair used to be known out here but not anymore.

I was in Oz last year and all I couldn't get enough of Sophie Ellis Bexter. It's Murder on the Dancefloor! And my mates (when in Rome...) were playing Bexta and Nick Fish mix CD's non-stop. But eh, that's what I get for hanging with techno -loving blokes.

My favorite album for about three years was Blue Sky Mining by Peter Garrett and his boys. Loved that group.

What's Spiderbait's reputation like in Australia? I'm surprised that they were never signed to an American label; they have (had?) some great stuff...

I like Powderfinger and Silverchair. I also like Shihad/Pacifier even if they're not Aussies. I also like the stuff I've heard from Superheist.

Despite being an aussie, im not a huge fan of aussie music, but some stuff is alright.

Bands worth mentioning:
Something for Kate
COG - i'd be interested if anyone outside of aussie has heard of these guys, they are brilliant aussie progressive rock, check them out.
Jerk - Their debut album just released. Industrial.. great stuff

there is a lot of great unsigned talent in australia. anyone with connections into the metal industry feel like checkin some out, contact me. i'm sure they'd love you for it.
