Most likely that sound is from a sound effects CD. I'm not saying that the producers for Outkast didn't create the sound ... but it's kind of a typical Sci-Fi sound ... so they probably just used a royalty-free CD. It could also be a patch from a modern keyboard - but I doubt it.
The sound was originally created with a synthesizer and had several layers to it. It reminds me of the sounds that the foley artists for Star Trek used to get with their Moogs. Sorry that I couldn't be more help. If you are looking to emulate the sound with a keyboard I could possibly try to program it. I don't know how quickly I can get to it. |

if it a sound effect, it might well come form teh bbc library of sound effect recordings, which is HUGE....
but i would second the request to post a link.

Outkast kick some ass when it comes to sampling, they seem to have access to the whole world's supply of samples. So i'm guessing that sound just came from their big ass library of sounds.
