Official "The Faint" Thread
Alright,
I just saw these guys in Detroit, and I was totally blown away. They had an incredible video show, that matches up with their music perfectly. If you've never heard them their music is kind of poppy, very energetic, but also very dark and discordant. Think "The Cure" with a ton of energy and cool synthesizers, or rammstein with the lead singer of the cure, words don't do it justice. My favorite part was when they played a new song "Paranoia Attack". They used footage from the war, and made it look like the news anchors were singing. If you'd like an example of the cool video stuff, go to http://www.mk12.com and look under work for their video for Agenda Suicide. So a few questions for anyone who has seen them. Do you think they could be considered fascist or is it a parody? Why do they sound so german when they're from Omaha? Did you think they sounded almost studio perfect in concert? Seeing a band like The Faint makes you hope for the future of music. This was far too cool to be an isolated incident. Also Enon sucked, and Schneider Tm, a bunch of german guys in labcoats, rocked the fucking house.

i saw the faint last week in philly and i was also blown away. i've never seen so many people dancing at a rock show before. i really doubt they are facists, i think that whole thing and their "german" sound/look is more of a gimmick than anything else, they seem to be a bit trendy.
yes, they did sound very studio perfect live, but it most likely has to do with how they used samples more than playing live. the guitar and bass players played fairly infrequently, and parts of the drums weren't played live either. sorry if i sound picky, it's just the kind of thing i notice. enon didn't play this show, i guess they were replaced with les savy fav, who totally effing rocks. if you have a chance to see them live do it. schneider tm (the only real germans in attendance) were great too, although the audience didnt seem to care all that much for them. |

I saw them for the second time last month in Omaha. Man, I was so blown away. Overall I think that is one of the best concerts I've ever been too, if not the best. I really dug Schneider TM, even though it didn't seem that a lot of other people did.
Les Savy Fav, shitty music, crazy ass live show. I've never seen a singer who went so nuts at a show. He was climbing all over Sokol Hall, hanging from the balcony, even humping a random audience member on stage. Then there was the Faint. Man, oh man. So fucking good. I loved the visual part of the show but it kept me from watching the actual show, I could have used a lull to see what was happening on stage. But overall, wow. Anyone who wants to check them out go with Blank-Wave Arcade, or Danse Macabre. Stay away from their first cd Media, it was before they found their "sound". Also the remix cd is also quite jammin'. |

Totally, I'm glad you guys both liked Schneider TM, I've dling some of theme lately, mainly "Reality Check" and "Lightspeed 3000". You can see their videos at www.schneidertm.com .
The Faint feels a little trendy in the same way that the Talking Heads did (not that I'm that old). I really hope they make a DVD or something. I'll be picking up that remix cd asap.

I have been listening to these guys for almost 7 years. and i just have to say that i am so impressed with the new album. it is amazing to have watched them come so far musicly...and just so far. the first show i ever went to there was like 20 or 30 people...and now...WOW! they have come so far from the Cog Factory days.
