Sigur Ros (If you like Radiohead...)

Sigur Ros: Just discovered this band from one of my friends. I now have a copy of the () album now, it is some of the best music ever. Any comments?

I've been a huge fan of Sigur Ros and similar bands since I've been introduced to it right here on TFP! (Does this place rock, or what?)

If you enjoyed (), you should also grab Ágætis Byrjun. It sounds different from (), in a good way, and contains real actual lyrics.

Other bands you might like are: MÚM (sweeter, like the first half of (), more use of digital effects, more upbeat), Godspeed You! Black Emperor (darker, more brooding than Sigur Ros, political), Mogwai (closer to rock), Explosions in the Sky (darker and more brooding, like GY!BE), Do Make Say Think (they've got a sax!)

I believe the genre is called "Post-Rock".

I learn something new every day. Thanks for the tip!

Sigur Ros is brilliant, but the comparison to Radiohead is unfair to both bands. I think they are both amazing, but truly unique.

I think Agaetis Byrjum is much better than ( ), but that's just me.

I second Godspeed You Black Emporer and Mogwai if you enjoy Sigur Ros. And yes, this genre has been dubbed "Post-Rock."

great suggestions from Nefir!
those are all stellar groups... I especially love God Speed You Black Emporer and Mum. If you end up really liking Mum, I can suggest a million IDM oriented producers that are in that realm of sweet smoothness..

Hmmmmm....I will listen.Thanks. :)

I'm not so much a fan of them but I do like the fact that they are well known and from Iceland.

I tried to get into the music but just can't seem to find the right head for it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm just got the "Finally We are No One" Album today (by Mum), and am enjoying it immensely

Not bad. Not really sure I want another meloncholy band on my list.

At the moment I got like 725 songs I can brood too, 725 songs I can chill too and only 50 I can bounce too.

-=shikamaru=- 07-18-2004 09:11 AM

311 has some good songs to chill and bounce to...
