Can you recommend a Ben Harper Album?

Hi folks,

A friend of mine listens to nothing but Ben Harper. I have heard a song or 2 of his but can't remember the names. Can you recommend a Ben Harper album that I should purchase to get me started on the "Ben Harper Experience".

Thanks everyone.

Acutally, any of them are good. Fight for your mind is my favorite..Live from Mars is awesome, it gives me goosebumps when I listen to it.

All are great, you won't be disappointed

the one I would reccomend is one I myself don't own. I found a mp3 ripped version on suprnova.org of an album called "Pleasure and Pain." With Tom Freund. It's from 1992 and I believe was only released on vinyl (limited press, why I don't own). It is really good and has songs on other albums, but in my opinion much more enjoyable like "Mams got a Girlfriend."

I like Ben Harper but that's the only album I've heard that I really like.

I own both "Will to Live" and "Welcome to the Cruel World". Both are outstanding

All of his stuff is amazing, but get his "Live From Mars"...that way you'll get a sampling of all albums but the most current one...

Didn't he have a two album set for awhile? Maybe that one.

Actually I was thinking of his box set entitled "CD Box Set" on allmusicguide.com, which is all the albums up until the latest rather than just a sampling. It was 3 cd's for $20 for awhile.

Yup, get em' all. They're all so different and all so good. His live show is simply amazing. If you ever get a chance to see him, make sure you do, well worth every cent.

We used "Forever" as our first dance at our wedding last week. Good stuff.

Thanks everyone. I'll feel better about my choice now. He was on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago playing as part of another band that I cannot remember. He was playing guitar on his lap while sitting in a chair.

Was he playing slide guitar for Jack Johnson? Usually when he's not singing, that's what he does.

Yep, that's who it was. Kind-of-a caribbean/ reggae / calypso type band.

He was playing with Toots and the Maytals, some of The Roots were playing also. A bunch of very talented musicans there that night.

sherpahigh, we used "I shall not walk alone" for our wedding dance :)
