Los Angeles,CA - Indie 103.1
Does anyone else on the TFP happen to live in the Los Angeles area and listen to Indie 103.1? I have been listening for about 2 months now and I love it. I am sick of the (insert big name local "alternative" station) playing the same crap over and over again. It had gotten so bad that I only listened to NPR and talk/sports radio until I found 103.1. It is all new indie and old school alternative (Stuff you only hear on the record of a Smiths or a Pixies album. No well know singles.) that’s it. Just wanted to let you known about it and talk about it if you all are so inclined.

I listen to it whenever I can get reception. I live in the Alhambra/Monterey Park area, and it gets pretty staticky sometimes. My friend up in Northridge says he can get it perfectly fine, though.
But yes, Indie is awesome! I switch between that and KLSX on my way to class. |

I love that station but their signal is so damn weak. I live near Diamond Bar and it rarely comes in good there. I have to go to Orange County to hear it good. They play a great mix of things and you'll get great deep album tracks from older artists like The Cure and Depeche Mode. Mostly new music though and not your typical KROQ crap.

Y107.1? Where they claimed to play nothing but music all day, and not have any annoying DJ's talk over the air? I used to love that station! But it slowly turned into a spanish station. It was kinda cool at first because they played some really awesome spanish rock songs, but they stopped.

Nah. Y107 was a different frequency. Great station but had nothing to do with 103.1 F.M.
The station you're thinking about was MARS radio. Also a good station, but more on the techno side. The old KROQ DJ Swedish Eagle used to be a DJ on MARS 103.1. strange |

Ah yes, got both of them confused. Both good stations. Y107 was great tho, really think they gave Kroq some good competition.
A great station is 91X out of SD. Much better than Kroq. Everytime I listen to it I hear a song that Ive forgoten about.

I live near Diamond Bar as well so the reception is pretty bad around here.... I don't listen to the radio much more and just listen to CDs and Mp3s but otherwise I find myself listening to 98.7 a lot nowadays

indie is okay. i never really liked punkish music though. and they seemed to start having a regular rotation of music like "big" stations. but the commercial-free mondays is cool, if they still do that.
a few months ago there was a pirate station at 104.7 broadcasting out of Echo Park. that was great. they played RJD2, old Dandy Warhols, and TV on the Radio. too bad they quit. i like 88.9 (KXLU or something) a little better at times, but i can never really pick it up. also sometimes KCRW has some good tunes. |
