EVERYONE read this
Last night I was absent, and my body became a conduit through which god spake, and he spaketh:
"El Cielo by Dredg is the best fucking album EVER." Seriously though if you haven't heard it I would definitely check it out, Don't just overlook this. Get to know the album. It's like a movie. It's like a living entity. It's so complete, solid. It is genious on every scale, from the entire album, right down to every note beat and lyric. It is a masrerpiece. I can't believe I can own it, and not be able to own a Picasso. Isn't that what's awesome about music. So I planned on writing that, but now I'm listening to David Darling, and thinking maybe I was wrong. I hate how things are overlooked on message boards, because we all feel we have something important to say, and then alot of times things just get passed aside. I think the most important thing I have to say about music is that you should check out dredg, and don't you dare download some songs and just listen to them, you must arrange them in the order they are in on the album. I am quite familiar with other albums such as Aenima, quite familiar. I mean I know Aenima like I know my Mom, and I can just say that El Cielo squashes that arrogant abomination. Ok, I'm exaggerating. I'm comparing it to Aenima because that is another "album", not just a gallimofry of songs. Aenima can get a little cocky though, self righteous. If you know Aenima you know what I mean. El Cielo has none of that. I would compare it to THE WALL in a second. |

Cool, heard some samples. Not bad, looks like I will be picking up the SACD version tomorrow. I heard several people state that this is what Opeth tried to sound like? I thought Opeth was a pretty heavy band?

Well read your recommendation, and then read about 20 others on Amazon saying the same thing, and bought the album today from bestbuy. Got about two full length listens in the car on the drive(there and back). Nothing on it is objectionable by any means, and a few of the songs have guitars that can get me a little into it. Still working on it, and once I get a chance to read lyrics / the notes maybe I will fall in love with it. But as it stands its just a good CD, nothing special.

That's another thing, you need the whole album for the effect, not just select tracks.
