Best Opening Song of a Tarantino Film
I think there is no question that Quentin Tarantino's films have unbelievably great soundtracks. I'm just curious which opening song you all thought was the best.
Explain whether you think it's just the best song among the five, or if you think it's the most appropriate for the movie, etc. |
Its Misirlou....no question about it!
Definately Pulp Fiction - "Misirlou"
By far, Pulp Fiction.
I enjoyed the tune from Kill Bill 1, but not the whole wierd "bang, bang" shit...... |
Wait a second. Goodnight Moon isn't the opening song to Kill Bill Volume 2. It's A Silhouette of Doom. Put that one on there instead of Goodnight Moon and I'll throw a vote.
Sorry, I didn't remember so I assumed it was the first song on the soundtrack CD.
I went for the Pulp Fiction one. In my humble opinion, its nothing less than the best movie opening song ever.
I was torn between Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 for Kill Bill. The "Miramax" logo with the beginning of Goodnight Moon gives me an awesome feeling. But the Sinatra in Vol. 1 really sets the mood. Had to go for it.
Misirlou blows the rest away. Not only does Dick Dale fucking rock on the song, but that song simply defines the movie by the mood it sets. Outstanding.
I'm going for Little Green Bag... not a popular choice it seems, but it's my favourite.
I voted for "Misirlou" myself, but I have to say that when the opening credits started on Kill Bill Vol.1 with "Bang Bang", I got goosebumps. It ratcheted up my anticipation level by about 1000%. The entire soundtracks of both KB movies are just unbelievable.
Bang Bang. its not as good as a song as Misirlou, but its just so perfect for the start of Kill Bill Vol.1 it has to win
The Silhouette of Doom is a great opening song, but it wasn't up there so I voted for Misirlou.
It does set the mood for the entire movie, and its really catchy. Goodnight Moon was a good ending song for Kill Bill Vol. 2. |
Bang Bang, it was the perfect choice for a song.
I can't stop listening to these soundtracks. Please, someone take them away from me!
I'm voting for Pulp Fiction's "Misirlou" because that's the only movie I've seen by Tarantino...oh, and that intro rocks hard as well.
Bang, Bang...started the movie out great
I vote for Little Green Bag. Sure Misirlou is a great song and really evocative of the movie - but once they pull that gun in the diner, it cuts to straight opening credits. You don't get something happening during the song itself like with the side on/straight ahead filmed slow mo walking, cigarettes, suits, lethal raw machismo in the Reservoir Dogs opening. Watch it again, a truly awsome sequence. There's a reason it's the logo for A Band Apart productions.
Have to say, while it didn't strike me during the movie, I love listening to Goodnight Moon on CD. It's such a damn sexy, slinky song. |
My vote goes to Bang, Bang. So haunting. So perfect.
reservoir Dogs - "Little Green Bag" - never seen it. Apparently some gents are named after colours from what I haved picked up elsewhere.
Pulp Fiction - "Misirlou" - never seen it Jackie Brown - "Street Life" saw it once, no clue what on the soundtrack now, but I can vaguely recall some kind of 70's mix Kill Bill Vol.1 - "Bang, Bang" - seen it, not impressed overall and the opening song did not 'wow' me at all Kill Bill Vol.2 - "Goodnight Moon" - never seen it; might in the next ten years or so but just as likely not. Other (True Romance, From Dusk Till Dawn, etc.) - never seen True Romance and I like From Dusk till Dawn but no clue off the top of my head how that soundtrack sounds now; Selma Hayek sticks in my memory much more. -- Can't name any other Tarantino films without looking on the internet so have to go with From Dusk Till Dawn as good mexican music wins over the 70's for me in this case. edit: just checked and I have seen all of three movies (aside from his bit roles like Desperado, etc.) listed under his name for all categories in the www.imdb.com database |
Bang Bang.
I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks He wore black and I wore white He would always win the fight Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down haha, BY FAR. |
Bang Bang (simply because it fits the story so perfectly), followed closely by Little Green Bag (for the aforementioned coolness of that scene).
Wow, that was really hard... and now i have to go watch Reservoir Dogs, it's been too long :)
Anyhow, i chose Pulp Fiction number one... with a TINY TINY gap between it and Bang Bang from Kill Bill Vol. 1. Damn good movies, Kill Bill 1 & 2. |
