Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs
Never heard of them before but I saw this video (Maps) on MTV today. It was pretty good. The lead singer is pretty hot (amazing lips; definitely a Chrissie Hynde vibe going on) and I was just wondering what everybody else and if there was more a back catalog I should explore? Just wondering. Thanks

You should definitely check out their self-titled EP, it should be pretty easy to find. The Machine EP, on the other hand, is not so good from what I've heard. But anyways, definitely check out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs EP.
Just as a note though, Maps is very different from anything else in their catalog, except for the very last couple of songs on their album. Most of their stuff is very raw, and "punk" I guess. Maps seems to be showing a new direction that they may be heading in, and if that's the case, then I am really looking forward to their next album, because Maps is almost unquestionably a good song. The rest of their catalog is quite good, but different. Try out 'Date with the Night' or 'Bang' before you jump in, because those are probably more representative of their overall sound. But overall, a very intriguing band that shows a lot of potential. I would definitely recommend them. |

I think the Machine is their best work, actually. The self titled EP didn't do them justice, and the LP was badly produced, and the first half is kind of bleh. It also ruined a couple of songs that I absolutely loved live (Rich, Pin). And I wish Modern Things had made it onto the album.
They're a really fun band to see live though, definitely check them out if you can. |

I actually enjoyed "Fever to Tell", the only album I own of them. Phlox, obviously bands such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are going to sound better live than on a CD, but I felt the production values were decent. I also love "Rich", "Pin" and "Date With the Night"
