I'm always interested in what everyone else is listening to. Lately I've been listening to a lot of the St.Germaine,Kruder&Dorf,Tosca-style stuff, and was wondering if anyone out there is feeling this stuff too? What are you guys/gals listening to? I'm always curious to learn about new artists.

I don't know, but what you've just described sound pretty cool.

At age 38 I feel at times woefully out of touch and SO uncool.

I thought I was "With It" last year when I knew who Paul Oakenfold was.

If you like laid back beats, try some older Photek... like "Form and Function" or "Modus Operandi"

I like the darker drum 'n bass, Photek seems pretty accessible for what you're talking about though.

Photek is good, I have alot of there stuff on Data discs and haven't listen to it much. As far as laid back beats (drum n' bass style), I like LTJ Bukem. Any others?

Definitely check out the latest release from The Crystal Method. And if you're looking for amazing, old skool breaks, DJ Shadow's Endtroducing is a classic among classics

Forgive my ignorance, but is Trip-Hop in this category? I love DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, and Amon Tobin and I'm interested in hearing similar sounding groups (don't really care for Portishead though). I could listen to Mezzanine and Endtroducing in an infinite loop but something new is always nice.

Trip-Hop is indeed in this category (Downtempo), Massive Attack - Teardrop has a semi-permanent spot on my playlist.

Massive Attack is good. Lately Dan the Automator has been releasing tracks with more of an *electronic sound to it. You *trip-hop heads will definitely appreciate his tracks.

Thanks for that link ChickenNinja. It's interesting to see the progression of the music and how recycled some of it has become. The author could've been more objective and less sarcastic though.

HAHAHAH... I can't believe Ishkur's guide to electronic music made it onto the TFProject ... buahahahaha.... that's great...
Ish is a great guy, tho he's a little off base on everything, he's mostly right on on everything too...

I'm more into the glitch side of things, but given your musical tastes, you'd probably really like Boards of Canada
my favorite streams right now are:
http://soma.fm/cliqhop.pls (for glitchier stuff)
and
http://somafm.com/groovesalad.pls (downtempo, more along your flavor)

dunno who's in the Seattle area, but I'm doing a downtempo/idm/ambient gathering for Valentine's Day! not a silly house party, but a full on event or epic magnitude... info is at:

If you like rock/spacy kind of music then check out Hooverphonic

http://www.hooverphonic.com/ (listen to their music for free there)

I like their old records better especially "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular" which is the best in my opinion!

If anyone likes the jazzy/acid style shit, check out The New Mastersounds. I purchased their album (by chance) in Tokyo, Japan and got lucky. Very little vocals too!
