Know any bands? (Famous or not)
My mom has a country band in Arizona, "Two Steps West" that is her picture on the website, no MILF jokes please, Her name is Mari Thompson, and if you are in Arizona and like Country music, you should check out her act, tell her, her son sent you, that should freak her out...
http://members.tripod.com/~twostepswest/ My Friend in Ohio, BigFresh, AKA Joel Smith has a band that I will let the website describe: " Defying stereotypes and breaking records for time spent simultaneously rocking AND consuming burritos, lavacola has made a name for themselves not only within the communities they entertain with their music, but also liquor stores and restaurants. Eschewing the labels usually awarded unsigned (and unsightly) rock bands, lavacola has managed to win fans and enemies from all walks of life. Ask your children, your bizarre friends, your Bookie, your Senator - chances are he/she has had a run-in with lavacola. This disturbingly talented three-piece formed in the protoplasmic goo of drummer Mr. DD's basement. A feral combination with former members of failed ska band "Walter Ego" (BigFResh and Mr. DD) and newcomer ButtLord - a bass-playing prodigy raised by Gypsies. The cold winter of 2001 witnessed the advent of lavacola to the womb of Middletown, Ohio. Lavacola played its first show just weeks after its birth. History began after this. Uniting punk, blues, country, funk and the syrupy-sweet tang of pop - lavacola never disappoints. Why do these hard-rocking, hard-living, womanizing miscreants cause such an uproar, such unsolicited applause, and occasional bouts of vomiting among those who attend the shows? Only an experience can show you that. " http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/LavaCola/ Free MP3's on this site I think. If you know any bands with websites, let us know, I love to here about great amature bands, and you never know when some one might be in the area to here some good music, plus I am sure the bands would not mind the free advertisement. ~Crack

What happens when KISS hooks up with Elvis?
Well, we don't know, but when a KISS tribute band hooks up with an Elvis impersonator, you get A wickedly outrageous act that combines elements of two of the greatest shows on earth. This chemistry makes for an entertaining, humorous, and interactive tongue in cheek tribute that rocks the house! Some friends started out with a band named Knucklehead doing mostly original material, then after after about a year they started closing thier show by doing Kiss covers for their last set. That's when they got pretty popular. It's morphed to the point where they pretty much just do all Kiss and Elvis tunes now. The guy that does lights sometimes dresses like a pimp, and I'll dress in a toga like Ceasar and run around the crowd with the Bud girls making a fool of myself and throwing stuff to the crowd (the band is sponsored by a local Budweiser distributor). Atleast that's the way it's supposed to work, they haven't actually done a show since they've changed the name and gone to a full Kiss/Elvis show. Here's the website : http://www.kingskiss.com/ Last edited by Jadey; 12-28-2003 at 07:51 PM.. |

That is a great Idea! I should have thought of that, but as it were, I am stuck with the combo of Sheila E and Dire Straits... Damn! (I like to call it the E- Straits...)

My wife was a coworker of the wife of ex Labrea Tarpits member. They were a popular 90's punkabilly band in the Athens - Atlanta area. Also at a party they threw a few years ago I met members of Nashville Pussy. Of course they know a shit load more people - as evidenced by the other party member - David Cross.

I've been freindly with the guys from 2 Skinnee J's and met the guys in Motley Crue [my friend is good buddies with them] . I used to work with a girl that fronts the Red Masque and I know one of the guys from a KC band, Shotgun Idols and there were plenty of metal bands in Brooklyn back in the days that I knew someone from or at least got fucked up with!
And your mom is a MILF--no Joke!!!

One of my best friends is the lead singer for a band called The 2030s. They used to practice in my basement until I moved, and no longer had a basement.
I met the lead singer from Trooper a few months ago at a local dive bar. After a few beers my friends and I convinced him to sing "We're Here for a Good Time" on Karaoke, good times. |

ummm, alot of local bands like Blue Illusion and Splitshift. More popular is Staind. They are from my area(guitarist grew up down the street from me) so whenever they are back in town they come to my place of employment and we always get to talking for a bit. Over the years(ever since they put out their first local album) Ive accumulated tons of posters/drumsticks/backstage passes and other mechandise that they gave me...really cool guys. If you ever get a chance to meet them take it, interesting to talk to.

I was friends with Philip of LaRue, before he and his sister picked up and moved to Nashville. See him when he drops back into town now and then..
I spent the summer in Italy two years ago with a gal who watches Michael W. Smith's kids... so know them by association!

My uncle has/had a top 40 band called Fancy Free.
My cousin on the other side of the family is a mandolin player and I think his new bluegrass band is called Wildfire. He's one hell of a player in my opinion, even makes me not totally hate bluegrass music

I'm going to know Dashboard Confessional soon because my cousin is touring with them as thier guitar tech. And when they come back to the states, he's playing with them for a while before they finish thier tour.
I also know a band called Acustc3, a friend of mine is in it. And they're starting to become pretty successful as a rather young group of boys!

I'm friends with a few of the local rock bands back home:
Energy is a really great local band that's gaining a good following within the region. They play a lot of shows at The Monkeybar and in Columbus, OH. On a larger scale, there's Bobaflex . They're a great bunch of guys, and I used to work with the McCoy brothers (who are descended from the McCoys of Hatfield/McCoy fame). They've got a CD out, and they're signed, but I don't think they're getting the recognition they deserve. Natural Born Losers are a bunch of guys from Beckley, WV that I hang out with at local shows. They're not that well known, yet, but they're good fun to see play, or to drink with afterwords. I've been friends with the lead singer from Aftermath for a while, since we both used to hang out at the local tattoo studio all the time. A couple of guys I work with used to be in an assortment of other bands: GI Jesus, Frontier Bastards, Big Country Band, Mindstream... I tend to know a lot of bands, since I spend a lot of time either at the tattoo parlors, or at shows.

My aunt and uncle are the founding members of Gwendolyn Speaks, a Cincinnati local band. I've met a few other bands/solo artists from going to their shows, including Katie Reider and Janet Pressley.
I also vaguely know (as in, been to their shows, and some of my friends hung out with them) a couple guys from July For Kings. I knew them as Swim and/or Vice, though, and I think there were a few different members with the name change. Plus the bands crackprogram mentioned Oh! And indirectly, but Marty Roe (from Diamond Rio) would come in and eat at the Lone Star I worked at every now and then. I never got to be his server, but I DID serve his parents once.
