Classic Rock

My sister has said to me that Classic Rock is dead. I stood in horror as she told me this. I am a big AC DC fan along with many other bands. I'm wondering is she right?

Classic rock is not going away any time soon...
Just look who makes the big bucks touring:
Rolling Stones...
ZZ Top...
Aerosmith...
Kiss...
many others,
most of these groups are still putting out new music,

classic rock will never die, not just because the old band are putting out new(age shitty) music but because classics/heros never die. Everytime you crank on a pink floyd album and hear the wailing of Dave's guitar...you are taken to a place that surpasses time. just because that music isn't played live anymore doesn't mean it's dead, it's just captured and released everytime that needle hits the round plastic disc or laser on CD

Classic rock RADIO is dead. At least around here, it's all "yeah, heard that too many times already. Try a deeper cut, please."

Classic rock is not dead, under any circumstances. Hell classic rock seems to be the only good music around anyway! It will never die because even to this day it's still innovative and people will always be able to relate.

Period.

Words to say otherwise are foolish and worth ignoring.

geez...how old is your sister?
That girl needs some perspective.

Classic rock is doing even better than some of the newer stuff,
especially on the concert scene.

Good music never dies,
it just goes on hiatus.

I grew up with classic rock in my household and I still listen to it today. I hate it when bands today try to remake great old classic rock songs, and then of course, all of the kids go out and buy thier albums. Its like...they're trying to steal the fame from all of the past music gods!

I wish that there was a law against remaking classic rock songs. They always try to make it better than the original, but always fail...

Interesting observation about classic rock radio, Red. Has anyone else noticed that recently-last couple of years- classic rock radio has embraced hair metal so much that they are squeezing out rock that's more , how do you say it? more classic? Don't get me wrong, I kinda like Poison, Dokken, and Cinderella, but I don't think of them the same way as I do Aerosmith, Led Zeplin, the Rolling Stones, Springsteen, etc..

It will never die.
Look at alot of the up-and-coming rock bands out there now. (i.e. The Mars Volta, My Morning Jacket ) The wear their old school references like blazing banners on their sleeves.

Classic rock will live on forever.
But I've often wondered what will happen to the music of today in 30 or so years. Will it be seen as classic too?

I'm not a fan of Classic Rock radio. Mostly they play the same tracks and quite frankly, some of the so called classic rock stations up here play '70's pop music. sick sick.

So, I play my own CD's, be it a Pink Floyd disc or an old Chicago album.

Classic rock will ALWAYS be around as long as our parents (the ones that grew up in the 60's and 70's, and early 80's) are still around...

I grew up (born in 82) listening to all those classic rock songs, from the eagles, bad company, 70's elton john, doors, peter frampton, CCR... all those guys... and i appreciated being able to listen to that stuff... it was GREAT music

Classic Rock will never die. It's always been around. Heros get remembered, but legends never die. And with how many legends there are in Classic rock, I don't see how it could die.

I know its only rock and roll, but I like it.

It will never die. Classic rock has found a place with numerous generations. It won't die out with the baby boomers, or the Gen X-ers or the Gen Y-ers or the kids born in 2060. It is "classic" for a reason and will always be a genre.
