have a good time. the "rave scene" is pretty much dead nationwide. it's now more of a mainstream "club scene," still a good time though. If you're ever in FL, let me know I do a lot of promoting for some pretty big shows in the tampa and orlando areas.

My wife works at a coffeeshop that used to host raves, but they stopped doing it a while ago. I think they got tired of people causing problems regarding drugs and such. At the end I heard it devolved into a bunch of younger teens with pacifiers.

theres still frequent parties in STL. I've been involved with quite a few parties. However in all honesty I have started to actually like the club atmosphere more than parties. Parties are better if there is 700+ in attendance, otherwise why not just make it a club event?
The "Rave Scene" or whatever isn't really dead. The parties have begunto get smaller and not quite so broadly advertised though. It's a big risk (bigger than it ever has been...) just to throw a party any more. Have fun at the party, Judge Jules isnt too bad, not one of my favorites really though...

it really depends on what you mean by "rave scene" if it's just a bunch of poser candy kids that want to watch the pretty lights and say I love everyone 8 million times.. I'll pass. I like the underground scene the best because usually it's just the quality heads. A true rave in my opinion is the one that isn't advertised. It's the one that's found out by word of mouth only. You should check out the movie Human Traffic and check out Groove. Human Traffic is based in England and is funny as hell. Groove is sorta the American view on the rave scene.
If there is good music whether it be trance, breaks, DnB, techno, house I'll usually check it out. I always go if it's a big DJ because I like to trainspot (watch the dj) Since I spin it's always good to watch other dj's cause you never know what you can pick up or learn. I think the most amazing DJ to watch is Irene..she works the tables like no other and she always pumps up the crowd. |

just watch human traffic if you have never been to a party. Groove does not give a truthful look at what a rave is really like. I understand that parties like that have happened and do RARELY still but it's not a good movie for someone curious about what it's like because chances are the first party they goto will be nothing like that.\
btw, @ guccilvr -- What do you play? and if you want to see someone work the tables check out general malice for ragga/dnb, adam freeland for breaks, and of course q-bert for turntablism.

I spin just about everything except for ambient and hard techno. I usually start with deep house go to progressive hit the trance then bang the breaks and end with a dnb and jungle/tribal mix. I'm not great or anything but I've only been spinnin' for about 4 months and from what I hear I'm doing really well. Practice makes perfect. |

as far as tribal do you mean straight tribal drums or tribal house? as far as human traffic and rolling... you think groove would be better? Really there arent many mainstream movies out there that depict anything of what a party is like, unfortunately there is blatent ecstacy use in BOTH human traffic and groove. however human traffic shows different views on the party (even jaded ravers, lol...) where as groove is just a candy coated generic "Rave" flick.... I've been into electronic music for about 7 years now (first real influence and party @ 13), but very serious about it the last 4. Anymore I eat, sleep, live the stuff (especially breakbeat genres, drum and bass for the most part...) It's always good to see others though. I still love to goto parties but theyve become commercial crap so about 65% of the stuff I goto is in a club. I'm sure that percentage will go up even more next may when I turn 21. I dont care what people decide to do at parties as long as they can handle themself but with the wave of kids that watched dateline or some special on "Raves" and come to get fucked out of their god damn minds I'd rather go somewhere they actually search @ the door...

I was saying human traffic is the one to watch. I don't really like groove. Groove is more into the "candy kid" era. I love Human Traffic and personally recommend it. It has the perfect explanation of ecstacy for people who have never experienced it. |
