Mine has to be Dave Gilmour on "Comfortably Numb", either solo, but the second one is somewhat better. The raw emotion derived from his playing style/sound is breath taking.
But thats just me.

I second the votes for "Comfortably Numb" "Sultans of Swing" & "November Rain"
My votes are for: "Sweet Child O' Mine" - GnR "Who's Crying Now?" - Journey "Another Brick in the Wall, pt 2" - Pink Floyd "All Along the Watctower" - Jimi Eddie Van Halen's solo in "Beat it"

Too many to list some great ones already mentioned, but for somthing slightly more chilled I love the guitar in the Prince and the npg track Morning papers, and the Kate Bush classic Wuthering Heights. Slightly less well known but still some great guitar riffs at the start of the trcack I would go for Giant's I'm a believer.

My favorites are Joe Satriani's "Circles" and Steve Vai's "Sex and Religion." They're both just so cool and kick ass, and the guitars are just so hot and crisp to listen to.

Another incredible slash solo
in the LIVE ERA 1987-1993 guns n roses CD Nighttrain..it's the first track on the CD..slash has 2 incredible solo's in it, the first ones pretty short, the second one is a bit longer but amazing..... for those of you who have this CD and havn't caught this gem, I suggest giving the song a listen and listen to the solo's, I don't think he plays the same ones in the studio version

actually heh another one of my favorite solo's, it's an acoustic one, and again pretty short... off of the same Gun's N Roses Album, on the song Patience....it starts with about 4 minutes in I think

It's simple, but the second solo in Comfortably Numb sends a chill up my spine every time.
Other votes: The start of Heart's Crazy on You Stairway to Heaven. Naturally. Gotta second the votes for November Rain, Sultans of Swing and Eruption Hotel California Layla. By Cream, not the Unplugged version Bohemian Rhapsody. Again, simple, but still great
