Blaqk Audio
Hello all,
I'm not sure as to whether or not anyone here had heard the new Blaqk Audio redord or not, so I'll explain. Blaqk Audio is the latest side project of Davey Havok and jade Puget of AFI fame. The two decided on tour sometime back between Art of Drowning and Sing The Sorrow to put together an album as a tribute to what has since been their favourite musice in electronica. The album has it's moments reminiscent of Covenant and Seabound of the Industrial/EBM scene (with one ong that shows shades of Combichrist sans-scrathy voals), latter Depeche Mode and Echo Image, with the occasional Sigue Sigue Sputnik influence. It's a good album for anyone into various forms of electronic music. If you are looking for a new twist on AFI though, I suggest you look elsewhere. Personally, althought I am a bit biased toward Electronic music, I like the album more than anything AFI has released since The Art of Drowning [Save for "This Time Imperfect", "37mm" and "Love Like Winter" (the latter two of the three slated to be Blaqk Audio songs anyways)]. All in all, it is solid effort by two musicians trying to show their other roots. Check it out if you dare, but as I said if your looking for somethign along the lines of AFI, or even NIN as some fans expected, Don't even bother. As a side note, if you don't like them but are fan of the EBM genre, check out the Assemblage 23 remix of "Stiff Kittens"... Mabe even the VNV Naton Remix of AFI's "Miss Murder" to see what they may fully be capable of if they focus all of their attention in that direction. ps, the Album features both Ronana Harris of VNV Nation and Nick 13 of Tiger Army for any die-hard fans of either of those bands.
