Bob Mould

One of the very first threads that I started on TFP was about Bob Mould. I've been a big fan of his for years, and if you slow down the video for Sugar's "Tilted" to a crawl, I'm in it at about 3 minutes. For those of you not in the know, Bob was in Sugar and was the creative force behind it and one of the ones behind Husker Du.

That said, he's going on a mini-tour to support his new DVD of the Last Dog and Pony Show tour, which was when he last toured fully electric. He's doing accoustic sets as a part of it, and I've already got a ticket to the Chicago show courtesy of a friend. That said, here's the announcement from his blog.

Live Dates In October, Weekend In Review
I am happy to announce several live performances in October. These dates are to promote the release of the Circle Of Friends DVD. Each evening will consist of a Q & A session, a short solo acoustic set, and a full screening of the DVD. (SF will be an abbreviated viewing of the DVD.) I will also be selling and signing the DVD at each performance. Confirmed dates are as follows:

Tue Oct 09
CHICAGO IL Schuba's
Wed Oct 10
MINNEAPOLIS MN Bryant Lake Bowl
Fri Oct 12
SEATTLE WA Chop Suey
Sun Oct 14
PORTLAND OR Doug Fir Lounge
Tue Oct 16
SAN FRANCISCO CA Herbst Theater (as part of City Arts and Lectures Series)
Wed Oct 17
HOLLYWOOD CA The Roxy Theater (presented by Filter Mag)

More dates to be announced shortly.
If you can get to one of these places, I highly recommend it. His album "Workbook" was the very first CD that I bought and remains the only album I ever had on vinyl, tape and CD, and I wore out 2 copies of it in my car. Sugar's album "Copper Blue" was one of the very first signs that woman that I married was more than a potential hook-up.

I love Bob's work... I caught Sugar in Toronto quite a few years back. It was awesome.

One of my favourite albums of his is, Husker Du's Candy Apple Grey. It was stolen a few years ago and I've yet to replace it.

I saw Sugar in Norfolk several years ago. I have never experienced a show with such energy and raw power. I like his solo stuff, but he kinda lost me with Modulate.
